Knowing what you “should” eat and actually doing it consistently are two very different things.
Diet culture tells us healthy eating is simple: get the meal plan, learn the rules, summon enough willpower, and make the “right” choice every time. Then, when real life inevitably gets in the way, we blame ourselves for lacking discipline.
But human behaviour does not work like that.
In this video, I’m unpacking the psychology behind our food choices, why cravings and old habits can feel so powerful, and why motivation alone is rarely enough to create lasting change. We’ll look at what behaviour change science actually tells us about the gap between knowing and doing, and how factors like stress, environment, routines, food access, reward, and automatic habits influence what ends up on our plate.
Most importantly, I’m sharing practical ways to make supportive choices easier without relying on perfection, shame, or white knuckling your way through another diet plan.
Because sustainable healthy eating is not about becoming more disciplined. It’s about creating the skills, routines, supports, and environment that make the behaviour you want easier to return to.
If you want more practical strategies for reaching your nutrition goals without obsessing over food or relying on willpower alone, check out my book The Hunger Crushing Combo Method.
Leave me a comment with the habit you’ve struggled the most to make stick.
