From Wonder Woman to Artemis (and half a dozen other Greek goddesses) to Galladon of Morne, local legend of Tarth, Brienne is certainly a hero spun from legend. She's also one of the few unambiguously noble and good-hearted characters in Westeros, which means she's constantly coming into conflict with most everything. She's an integral part of George Martin's commentary on heroism, and a kind of mirror to Jaime and his relationship to Cersei. Brienne's symbolism is off the charts, and actually has a lot in common with Jon Snow's symbolism (hashtag 'hero sh*t').
