Looking for something to do in Phnom Penh? A 1/2 day bird watching tour is the perfect way to see a bit of the Cambodian countryside. We did a tour with Vana Travel (vanatravel.com/) which had us cross the Mekong River by ferry to Arey Ksat. It's just a 10 minute ride, but it's a whole different world over there. We walked along farm paths, through forests, and around 100 year old temples - all the while spotting beautiful birds like the Cambodian Tailorbird, the White Rumped Shama, and the Blue Winged Pitta. We also got lucky and tracked down a bird of prey that is somewhat difficult to find. It was a fantastic day and Vana Travel took care of everything from the transportation (a comfy car), to drinks (water and coffee), to food (snacks and lunch), to knowledgeable guides (2 of them!). Definitely check them out if you're looking for something to do in Phnom Penh, or if you want to enjoy the natural side of Cambodia that most people miss.
