I spent a part of the day rearranging my room... as I often do when I have the time. And when I was rearranging I realized just how little sense anything would make. I finally just set it up to explore "How does the Spectralis fare compared to the Cirklon with sequencing." And - well, I still think I prefer the Spectralis. I just write stuff faster. That doesn't mean this track sounds better than my last one (Crashing down), but it was just a little more organic for me to write and quicker. It's hard to explain, although I suppose it's easy to explain when I think about the 14 years I've spent with the Spectralis. Of course, it's not perfect, it doesn't easily assign MSB/LSB for program changes (you can use cc's but it's a little awkward) and it can't do polyphonic step sequencing (which is actually awkward to do on the Cirklon).

Anyway - here it is. And listening a day after writing it, it’s too repetitive. I don’t like it. But I’ll share it anyway.

$Ever present | A Kawai SX-240 and Rhodes Piano Improvisation Recently Ive got a few rude comments on my page, misconstruing events Id spoken about in the past... not just trolls (although, yes, they are those, but they dont bother me as much as people making up and changing what Id said). Now Im starting to think that sharing my life is a bad idea. Anyway - about this track, Id actually written it and had enjoyed everything Id done, except, when I went to look at the recording, it had stopped after 10 minutes! My computer went to sleep!!! Whoops. I had to make a new track, and here it is. Fractal Audio FM3 for reverb and delay #sx240 #fractalaudiofm3 #rhodespiano$ $Roland Juno 60 | Ambient soundscape with Fractal Audio FM3 I decided to help a friend and replaced all of his Roland Juno 60 sliders. I figured I’d done a lot of similar work for myself, and I’ve had a lot of people help me out so I wanted to pass it forward. Well, after spending 3 hours replacing the sliders, it was 12:30AM and I turned on the unit to test it out. But it went horribly wrong. Nothing sounded right. Noise was always present, the Attack slider didn’t work, Sub was always on, you get the picture. By this point, I was totally stressed out. I had destroyed a $3000 synth! I tried going to sleep, but it was around 3AM before I could. I woke up the next day, stressed. I ran downstairs to see if it was just something simple I missed, but nothing seemed wrong. All the pins had continuity to the traces they were going towards. By 5PM that day, I finally wrote on a facebook group. Someone mentioned something regarding the new sliders from Syntaur. He said they’re chassis legs are too short. Specifically, the Attack slider chassis provides ground to IC5, pin 8. But when I checked, there was continuity from the pad to IC5 pin 8. HOWEVER, the pad was NOT connected to the chassis. I quickly threw the old slider in, and magically… it all worked. I couldn’t believe it. That was about 24 hours of terror as I tried to figure out what went wrong. However, it is now going strong, perfectly. I’m very thankful to that facebook group!
