The United States gained 200,000 fewer jobs than we thought over the last three months. Economist Justin Wolfers (@PlatypusEconomics) is worried—and on this episode of What Next with host Mary Harris, he explains why you should be too.
“So one of the biggest stories that we don’t talk about because there’s so much to talk about is what does a low population growth economy look like? Because the U.S. has not slowly eased its way into it the way other countries did. The U.S. threw on the brake. And even if you thought in the long run it would work out, that could cause a lot of weird repercussions in the short run. And we haven’t had time to talk about it because we’ve been talking about wars and trade wars and every other damn thing.”
