The Secret Lair x Masters of the Universe Superdrop goes live tomorrow, September 14, and I've been grinning at these card lists for a week. He-Man, Skeletor, She-Ra, Teela, Orko, Man-At-Arms, Battle Cat, Panthor, Trap Jaw, Evil-Lyn, the Sorceress. Five drops. And some of the card choices are so well matched to the characters that somebody at Wizards clearly had the toys.
Tinybones, an actual skeleton, is Skeletor. Sakashima the Impostor, the copy guy, is Man-E-Faces. Sisay, who pulls every legend she can find, is She-Ra rallying the Princess Alliance. And one entire drop is named "Sold Separately," which is the single most devastating phrase from the back of every toy box in 1984, now printed on a product on purpose.
I go through all five drops card by card, what each one costs, which bundle actually makes sense, and where the genuine deep-cut references are hiding. There's real Commander value in here too: a full-art textless Sol Ring, a double-sided Command Tower, Breach the Multiverse, Silence, and Sword of War and Peace reskinned as the Sword of Power.
