We are hanging out with our good friend, the one and only John Riggs, and we have a very special custom surprise for his wife, Michelle! We were just recently hanging out together about three and a half weeks ago at a convention in Utah, and it is always an absolute blast catching up on the retro gaming convention circuit. But during that specific trip, John's wife Michelle asked if I could uniquely craft and do something special just for her. Well, I finally finished it using my custom 3D printing setup, and there is something truly one-of-a-kind right in this box. I had John open it up on camera so we could all see exactly what she has coming her way, and I think she is going to completely flip out when she sees this incredible piece!
For those who might not know the hilarious backstory, I had to ask John to tell the story of why this specific character means so much to Michelle. John was completely honest and admitted that her absolute obsession with the Ghost character from the immensely popular Call of Duty franchise kind of came out of nowhere! It is not just Ghost—she is also a massive fan of Soap MacTavish, Captain Price, and the other legendary members of Task Force 141 from the Call of Duty Modern Warfare series. But Simon "Ghost" Riley is definitely her absolute favorite character by a wide margin.
John started noticing more and more Ghost merchandise mysteriously appearing around their house. It started small with things like a little Ghost Funko Pop proudly displayed in the bedroom, and then suddenly, more Call of Duty collectibles started popping up everywhere you looked. Michelle even started asking John to play Call of Duty games on the console constantly. The absolute funniest thing is that she does not even want to play the first-person shooter games herself; she just genuinely wants to sit back and watch John play the cinematic campaigns and multiplayer matches just so she can see this specific masked character keep popping up on the television screen! The dedication has reached entirely new levels, culminating in them actually having a massive, full-size Ghost body pillow right in their room. It is officially beyond an obsession at this point, which makes this custom 3D printed gift absolutely perfect for her growing collection!
The absolute funniest part of the story happened when we were all hanging out together at the convention in Utah. There was an incredibly detailed Ghost cosplayer walking around the show floor, and John noted that Michelle started getting totally giddy and nervous. It was hilarious because she started getting almost shy and completely embarrassed whenever the Call of Duty cosplayer would come walking around their booth. She was clearly super excited to see her favorite character in real life but was trying her absolute hardest to play it cool and keep her excitement tucked in. Knowing how much of a massive Call of Duty fan she is, I knew I had to fire up the 3D printer, dial in the slicing software, and create something truly unique and highly detailed for her.
While John and I often gift each other various retro games, custom tech items, and awesome geeky things, this was one specific custom 3D print that I wanted to make absolutely sure Michelle got to enjoy for herself. She is going to completely freak out when she finally sees this detailed Ghost print in person. Plus, as anyone who frequently travels to gaming conventions knows, anytime you go to a con, you always have to make sure you bring something awesome back for your family. By giving this custom 3D printed Call of Duty Ghost figure to John today, he already has his awesome gift taken care of, meaning he is completely off the hook for bringing something back from this trip!
