In his first semi-annual testimony as Fed Chair, Kevin Warsh told the House Financial Services Committee he'd prefer "a set of monetary policies that are not boom and bust" β a striking admission that the Fed's own choices have made homeownership a game of timing rather than a stable, reachable goal. He also called the Fed's 2020 inflation framework "a mistake" that "did more harm to the least well-off among us than any policy" he could have imagined, and said 30-year mortgage rates are higher today because of inflation the Fed allowed to run.
So what does a Fed that's promising a "regime change in policy" actually mean for YOUR rate, your payment, and your buying power? Jeb and Josh go through the testimony line by line and separate the sound bites from what will really move mortgage rates.
In this live show, we cover:
πΉ Warsh's "boom and bust" housing admission β and why it matters for first-time buyers
πΉ Why he says mortgage rates are still high (and what actually brings them down)
πΉ "Inflation is a choice" β is he blaming the Fed, Congress, or both?
πΉ The 2020 framework "mistake" and what a Fed reset could mean for rates in 2026
