How do you see the Father?
In Luke 15, Jesus tells the story of the prodigal son, the obedient brother and the gracious father. Both sons had a distorted view of their father, and both believed the same lie in different ways: “I can do nothing to please him.” But the father’s response reveals the heart of God. He runs toward the repentant, restores identity and reminds the faithful son that everything he has is already available to him.
The Father is not looking for slaves who perform out of fear. He is calling sons and daughters to live from love, grace and belonging. When we understand that we are deeply loved and valued, we stop striving for what Jesus has already made available, and we begin to live with a greater expectation of God’s goodness.
