Ten years later… how did Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice become the movie that changed DC forever?
In this video, I take a deep retrospective look back at Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) — one of the most controversial superhero films ever made, and arguably the movie that permanently altered the future of the DC Extended Universe.
Originally meant to launch DC’s answer to the MCU, Batman v Superman had enormous expectations. Instead, the film divided audiences, disappointed critics, and set the DCEU on a path it never fully recovered from.
So what went wrong?
In this retrospective, I break down the entire story behind the film: from its ambitious production and creative vision, to its themes, characters, controversial storytelling choices, critical backlash, box office performance, and the long-term legacy it left on both DC Studios and the superhero genre as a whole.
