The story of LGBTQ+ people trapped in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan and running for their lives, simply for the crime of being themselves.
For LGBTQ+ people living in Afghanistan, the years before the return of the Taliban saw life showing signs of slight improvement. But in 2021 all that progress quickly evaporated, and they were forced back into hiding. This film follows a handful of LGBTQ+ Afghans who are now terrified, persecuted and now hiding from individuals they had previously lived alongside peacefully. Without access to jobs, the legal system or medical services, their fractured lives are crumbling. Using footage smuggled out of Afghanistan, mixed with archive and animation, this film reveals their harrowing story."
