When Garuda, the King of Birds and mount of Lord Vishnu, witnesses Lord Rama bound by serpent weapons in Lanka, a devastating doubt takes root in his heart: "If Rama needed my help to be saved, is He truly God?"
To resolve his doubt, Shiva points Garuda to a small black bird sitting on a bare branch on a distant frozen mountain — Kakabhushundi.
