Tracy Hickman directly shared that these iconic platinum plates were inspired by his own religious background in the LDS faith. But within the lore of Krynn, their history is fiercely debated. One ancient account tells of a knave named Dario who discovered hundreds of beaten platinum disks in a goblin tomb. Reading them turned his hair stark white, and he used their sacred truth to found the Holy Church of Istar! A second origin claims they were forged much later by Elven and human scholars in Istar, hidden away by Silvanesti priests, and lost in the wilderness until a Que-Shu pilgrim delivered them to Xak Tsaroth.
