The Brady Bunch Episodes Trailer
Approximate Film Date: 1987 - 1989
Many of you that I went to Hanover High School might recall the quasi-famous audio redubbing that my friends and I did to the classic Brady Bunch television show. It was seen by quite a few people at the time and it gained a bit of notoriety.
Over the years, I have wanted to revisit them, edit them, add additional sound effects and put in an audience laugh track to add to the humor of it all. After about a year of off and on work I've finally completed the editing of all eight episodes we dubbed over. This includes the final episode we ever worked on, A Very Brady Christmas (1988). All of this has now been transferred to DVD where, for better or worse, it will be preserved for future generations to enjoy... or not.
It is definitely catered to a very juvenile sort of taste, but there is also something viciously satirical about it. There's something truly unholy and obscene about desecrating the most wholesome of all American families in this way. The language is atrocious, the humor is crude, the plot-lines convoluted, and much more for even a deeply troubled individual to find insulting. This is the net result of 15 year old minds allowed to run free in dark territory.
The absolutely brilliant voice-over work by Sean Fontaine is something which people might not easily appreciate. He single-handedly created a character in Mr. Brady that makes the entire experiment work. The Brady Bunch dubbing would be nothing without him. Pay close attention to how perfectly his comments match the movements and facial expressions of Mr. Brady, and keep the following in mind: none of what we did was scripted in any way. It's entirely ad-libbed. All we did was press the audio dub record button and started firing away.
