🧶 PATTERN
STARTING CHAIN:
Chain a multiple of 10 + 2
ROW 1 (SET UP ROW):
Sc in second ch from hook, *skip 4 ch, shell in next ch, skip 4 ch, sc in next ch; rep from * across.
ROW 2 (SET UP ROW):
Ch 1 and turn.
Sc in first st, *fpsc around each of next 5 dc, ch 1, fpsc around each of next 5 dc, fpsc around the sc between shells; rep from * across. When 1 stitch remains, sc in last st (instead of a final fpsc).
ROW 3 (V-STITCH, HALF SHELL ROW):
Ch 4 and turn (counts as dc + ch 1).
Dc in first sc at base of ch (makes small v-stitch),
*ch 3, skip 5 fpsc, sc in ch-1 space in back of work behind shell,
ch 3, skip 5 fpsc, v-stitch (dc, ch 2, dc) in sc between shells (the fpsc in back); rep from * across. After last ch 3, (dc, ch 1, dc) in last sc (makes small v-stitch).
ROW 4 (MATCH ST COUNT ROW):
Ch 1 and turn.
Sc in first st, ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in dc, *ch 3, sk 3 ch, sc in sc, ch 3, sk 3 ch, sc in dc, ch 2, sk 2 ch, sc in dc; rep from * across. After last ch 3, sk 3 ch, sc in dc, ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in top of beg ch-4 (in 3rd ch).
ROW 5 (HALF SHELL ROW):
Ch 3 and turn (counts as dc).
Work 5 dc in v-stitch ch-1 sp from 2 rows below (makes half shell), *sc in front ch-1 sp of next shell from 4 rows below, work full shell (5 dc, ch 1, 5 dc) in next v-stitch ch-2 sp from 2 rows below; rep from * across. After last sc in front ch-1 of shell, work 5 dc in next v-stitch ch-1 sp from 2 rows below, dc in last st.
ROW 6 (FPSC ROW):
Ch 1 and turn.
Sc in first st, fpsc around each of next 5 dc,
*fpsc around sc between shells (hidden in back), fpsc around each of next 5 dc, ch 1, fpsc around each of next 5 dc; rep from * across. After last fpsc around sc, fpsc around each of next 5 dc, sc in top of beg ch-3.
ROW 7 (V-STITCH, FULL SHELL ROW):
Ch 1 and turn.
Sc in first st, *ch 3, sk 5 fpsc, v-stitch (dc, ch 2, dc) in fpsc from prev row (behind the front sc), ch 3, sc in ch-1 sp of next shell (the ch-1 sp in back); rep from * across. After last ch 3, sk 5 fpsc, sc in last st.
ROW 8 (MATCH ST COUNT ROW):
Ch 1 and turn.
Work a sc in first st, *ch 3, sk 3 ch, sc in dc, ch 2, sk 2 ch, sc in dc, ch 3, sk 3 ch, sc in sc; rep from * across.
ROW 9 (FULL SHELL ROW):
Ch 1 and turn.
Sc in first st of half shell (4 rows below). This pulls up the front of the half shell.
*Work shell (5 dc, ch 1, 5 dc) in v-stitch ch-2 sp from 2 rows below, sc in front ch-1 sp of next shell from 4 rows below; rep from * across. After last shell, sc in last st from 4 rows below to pull up the half shell.
ROW 10 (FPSC ROW):
Ch 1 and turn.
Sc in first st, *fpsc around each of next 5 dc, ch 1, fpsc around each of next 5 dc, fpsc around sc between shells (hidden in back); rep from * across. After last fpsc in shell, sc in last st.
REPEAT ROWS 3–10 TO CONTINUE THE PATTERN.
