It’s 2:33 A.M on September 22, 1993. Amtrak’s Sunset Limited train Number 2, with 215 passengers on board, leaves the railway station in Mobile, Alabama. Due to an unexpected delay, the train is already half an hour late, and there is no time to waste. The journey is more than 700 miles long and takes more than twenty hours to reach the last station, the city of Miami in Florida.
