With the success of the Apricot PC in 1983, ACT would seek to launch a new line of computers in 1984 that would both replace their existing products and expand the lineup itself in a market they had comfortably made their place in. The most popular system in the F-line was the F1. This machine was smaller, narrower, supported all the same software* and in many ways felt like the IBM PCjr which would also debut in 1984. It would also introduce color video as standard and wireless peripherals.
In this video we'll talk about how we got here, the machine itself, the insides and we'll quickly demo what is once again a computer that runs MS-DOS (and CP/M-86 if you wanted) but was in no way compatible with the IBM PC in favor of its own Apricot standard....and even then it has quirks.
