The Romulans used human slave labor to plunder the alien ruins across Altair and eventually located the Iconian artifact that Praetor D'Deridex needed to activate the Iconians' gateway network.Altair was re-taken by Starfleet during Operation Dauntless, but no human survivors were found alive on the planet.
THE ROMULAN WAR: Berengaria The Romulan War 2021-02-10 | Berengaria VII is a biological and zoological paradise teeming with exotic alien lifeforms. Colloquially named "Salem" by the scientists who discovered it, the world was chosen as the location for United Earth's first starbase. Without warning, Salem station was attacked and destroyed by the Imperial Romulan Navy's Third Fleet. Several other Starfleet ships and civilian craft were destroyed as well, leaving no survivors except for the civilians on the planet below. Within days, nearly all of the humans on Berengaria were in Romulan prison camps or dead. Starfleet forces drove the Romulans out of the system three years later during Operation Dauntless. No human prisoners were found alive.

THE ROMULAN WAR: Unroth The Romulan War 2019-06-24 | Unroth III was the site of first contact between humanity and the Romulan Star Empire in 2152 when a cloaked Romulan mine damaged starship Enterprise NX-01.The humans were evicted from the system by a Romulan patrol and when war broke out several years later, Unroth III was the only known target ripe for a raid by Earth forces. Captain Archer led the strike but the assault was ultimately futile since nearly all Romulan personnel had already left the planet months earlier. That didn't stop the Romulan Praetor from using the humans' attack on Unroth as political propaganda to build support for an escalation against the Coalition of Planets.Many years later, it was revealed that the secrecy around Unroth III was due to it being the site of ancient artifacts belonging to the Iconians. It is believed that artifacts found by the Romulans on Unroth in the 2150's allowed them to activate the Iconian stargate at Galorndon Core.
THE ROMULAN WAR: Remus The Romulan War 2019-06-24 | Remus is a barely habitable planet tidally locked to Romulus. The home of an indigenous race called "The Remans," the planet is rich in dilithium and other rare metals.The planet and its inhabitants were conquered and exploited after "the Sundered" (dissident Vulcans) settled Romulus. Over the centuries, Remus was industrialized for maximum efficiency and the Reman people were subjugated to serve as miners, domestic slaves, and as shock troops in the Empire's campaigns throughout its expansion.Several small insurrections occurred since Remus' occupation, with a key revolt during the Earth-Romulan War of the 22nd century which served to help the humans cause. Another revolt in the 24th century led by Shinzon shifted the balance of power inside the Empire, but by 2387 both Remus and Romulus and its inhabitants were annihilated during the Hobus supernova.
THE ROMULAN WAR: Romulus The Romulan War 2019-06-24 | Romulus was the throneworld of the Romulan Star Empire, which spanned regions of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants before its collapse in 2387.Romulus was settled in the 5th century by dissident Vulcans who threw off their heritage and culture in an exodus known as "The Sundering".As various powerful families competed for influence in the new Romulan government, a military general and senator orchestrate a false flag attack which led to a bloody campaign of violence and slavery against the Remans, an indigenous race on the tidally-locked planet nearby. The Reman campaign united the various Romulan factions around a Praetor and a law-making Senate.The Earth-Romulan War of the 22nd century was a humiliation for the Empire and they withdrew from galactic affairs for nearly a hundred years before re-emerging as a threat to regional stability well into the 24th century. In 2387, the Hobus supernova destroyed Romulus and other core worlds of the Empire, making the Romulan people an endangered species.
THE ROMULAN WAR: Romii The Romulan War 2019-06-24 | Romii was the first home of the Sundered - a group of politically disaffected Vulcans who fled the planet in the 4th century. Several thousand of the Sundered chose to settle on the planet while the main body continued on towards a more hospitable planet - the future Romulus. The Romii colony remained undisturbed for nearly two millennia when they were discovered and attacked by Klingon freebooters in the early 22nd century. The Romii called out for help and military forces on Romulus responded, igniting a larger interstellar conflict between the Romulans and the Klingons. The "Dueling Birds War" was fought to a standstill, but Praetor D'Deridex II annexed Romii and formally brought it into the Empire, where it eventually became the largest imperial base near its border with the Federation.Romii was destroyed by the Hobus supernova in 2387.
