If you need a small but powerful Arduino board, Teesy 3.2 is the best board available today. In this video we take a first look at Teensy 3.2 board, we set it up and we run the blink program. Next we try the code of a previous Arduino project to see if it is really compatible.
A few weeks ago Paul Stofreggen, the creator of Teensy, sent me an email and asked me if I would like a Teensy to make projects with it. Of course my reply was positive and a few days later I received a package! Two Teensys, an Audio board and a big 2.8 inch color TFT display! Thanks Paul!
As you can see the Teensy 3.2 board is very small. It is smaller than an Arduino Nano and it has the same size with an Arduino Pro Mini. But despite its small size it outperforms these Arduino boards on every aspect! The board uses a 32bit 72Mhz ARM processor which can be overclocked to run at 96MHz! That's 6 times the frequency of the Arduino Uno. If you take in consideration that Teensy uses a 32Bit ARM processor the performance difference with a 8bit 16MHz Arduino board is huge. The only board the can be as powerful as Teensy is the Arduino Due.
Teensy provides 256Kbytes of Flash memory to store your programs which is 16 times more than the flash memory of an Arduino Uno. It has 64Kbytes of RAM and it supports Direct Memory Access. It uses 3.3V logic levels but all of its 34 Digital Inputs and Outputs are 5V tolerant. It also has 21 analog inputs and one true analog output, 12 PWM pins and much more.
