Tempest dances to Burn Your Village Laura Tempest Zakroff 2025-03-09 | For Gothla UK's virtual event, I designed, filmed, and edited this short performance to Kiki Rockwell's song "Burn Your Village." I will be teaching and performing in person at Gothla UK this summer. I'm a bit old school in how I like dance performances presented - I prefer to see as much of the dance directly, uninterrupted as possible. I think this shows what the dancer is thinking and how they connect things, vs multiple shots/angles - so I used a single camera for this. However, the very specific vibes of the three interwoven parts of the song inspired me to set up 3 costume changes and work with overlays to express the music. For me, this blends the different "faces" of the narrator - from mystical/otherworldly to coy/sly/trickster to pure rage/animalistic. The sigils on the left are from my Sevenfold Waning Moon spell and the sigils on the right are the Anatomy of a Witch sigils. You can find info on both in my book "Visual Alchemy."P.S. Getting Down & Dirty with Oracle Decks Laura Tempest Zakroff 2022-01-21 | I think a lot about oracles, not just because I've created two oracle decks in the last few years (the Liminal Spirits Oracle & the forthcoming Anatomy of a Witch oracle), but because I love art and divination. It seems that the world of card divination is set up into two major categories: Tarot & Oracle - but that doesn't really adequately describe the breadth and range of decks out there. In this video I'll talk about the major categories of cards that I tend to see, and show you some examples of each. While it's true that anything can be used as an oracle, what your needs are and what a deck provides can vary greatly.
