We were lucky enough to experience The Festival of Our Lord of the Conquest which happens every year in March in San Miguel de Allende. The Festival begins at the crack of dawn and continues all day and into the evening. San Miguel de Allende Botanical Gardens Slowpoke Travel 2024-03-23 | CG and I are in Mexico and currently living in San Miguel de Allende. Today we visit El Charco del Ingenio Botanical Gardens. The botanical gardens in San Miguel de Allende are currently open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm and the entrance fee is 80 pesos, or about $5 USD. The gardens are located on the edge of town in the hills. You can walk there from centro, but it’s a climb. Grab a cab if you don’t want to walk. Earthquakes in Cuenca, Ecuador - Our Experience Slowpoke Travel 2023-09-09 | During our 3 month stay in Cuenca, Ecuador we experienced 3 earthquakes. On the Richter scale, the earthquakes measured 6.8, 5.3, and 5.2. Several locals we spoke with who had lived in Cuenca for multiple years told us that this much earthquake activity was very unusual and was not the norm in recent years. Ecuador is located along the "Ring of Fire" which is a vast area along the coastal regions of the Pacific Ocean where most of the Earth's volcanic and earthquake activity occurs. Cuenca Ecuador Museum Pumapungo plus Walking Thru the City Slowpoke Travel 2023-08-26 | Today in Cuenca Ecuador we visit the Museo Pumapungo which I highly recommend. The museum itself doesn't allow much photography inside, but there's lots to see inside and outside, so figure at least half a day to take full advantage of the museum. Cuenca Ecuador ...with Church Bells Slowpoke Travel 2023-06-03 | Today we walked down to El Paraíso Park where the Rio Tomebamba and Rio Yanuncay meet. Walking along the rivers is one of our favorite activities in Cuenca, it's peaceful, and a chance to escape some of the buzz and noise of living in a city. Bus Ride from Guayaquil to Cuenca Slowpoke Travel 2023-04-15 | We rode the bus from Guayaquil to Cuenca, Ecuador. We left from the Terminal Terrestre de Guayaquil, a large and bustling bus terminal located near the airport. In March of 2023, our bus trip cost us about $9 each. Only a few blocks off of the Guayaquil Malecon, Iguanas lounge and wander the park without a care in the world. If you go to the park and don't spy iguanas on the ground, then look up in the trees. Guayaquil Ecuador - Complete Costs for 1 Week Slowpoke Travel 2023-03-25 | How expensive is Ecuador? We flew into Guayaquil, Ecuador and stayed for 1 week. In this video we'll talk about how much money we spent and what we spent it on. In the video I say Cuenca is at 8600 ft, but it's actually between 8400 and 8500 ft. In some of the scenes in the video there aren't many people around even though it's 10 am in the morning! Housesitting 5 Months in 2022 - Slowpoke Travel Podcast Slowpoke Travel 2022-12-24 | We performed about 5.5 months of house sitting in 2022. I had hoped to find an additional house sit for the month of December, but no suitable option presented itself. There were a lot of listings for COLD WEATHER sits, but we wanted warm weather over the holidays, so staying home in Florida was our best option. What will happen in 2023? I'm excited to find out!
