How to Lipsync and animate in iClone8 with Acculips and face puppet - Practical Demonstration. Commander Ascorbius 2023-10-27 | In this video I show my process from start to end for a simple episode with attention paid to lipsyncing.I use iClone for all of my Elite Dangerous episodes, historically iClone did between a pigs ear and a moderate job of lip syncing so I'd have to correct the Visemes it applied, but Acculips is fantastic. This 'how to' episode talks though the steps needed to get it working for your project by explaining from the character's point of view what is being done.You should see the character come to life just by following a few simple steps.I find this process works for me, and hopefully you'll get something out of it too. Other processes are available I'm sure and I don't proclaim to be an expert on this. But given how steep a learning curve iClone has sometimes, a small step up can be helpful.Following on from this video is an actual episode called "The Collision Event" which I'll link here when it's live.

The Elite Dangerous Camera is unusable in Odyssey. #TheBlackoutMustGo Commander Ascorbius 2021-06-16 | As a content creator for Elite Dangerous, I use the mostly wonderful camera system a lot. It is used for all of my stories and is essential for making any kind of video which doesn't rely soley on gameplay footage from the cockpit of the ship. It's a bit tricky to use sometimes but with a little practice it's possible to get some brilliant shots. This does have a downside though. A feature designed to keep the camera from seeing things it shouldn't, a feature which trips at the slightest thing and ruins perfectly good takes.I call this function, The Shot Ruiner. You might call it something else, the Blackout effect or the Blur. I personally feel it achieves very little and actually hurts content creators with how heavy headedly it tackles the problem.In this video I break down the problems with the camera as I see it and offer my insight as a developer - not that I know better than Frontier, but to give a perspective which might have been missed, the perspective of a content creator.I'm also keenly aware that Frontier are all hands to the pumps right now and I'm not suggesting that they drop everything to fix this problem.. and I also know that it doesn't affect everyone and some people won't understand why this is important. He's been doing piracy the hard way for most of his career, hunting down and shooting other commanders in ship to ship battle. Now on this criminal odyssey he has other options because now he has access to something very powerful, something which belongs to a very powerful person who very much wants their property returned. He's still flying the Imperial Clipper, which makes a nice change from being busted down to a sidewinder. Now he has as many low temperature diamonds, void opals and painite he can carry as well as a foolproof plan.Will he succeed? Will he be able to take what he wants or will he put his foot in it as usual?This was going to be filmed partly in Odyssey using SpaceLegs or Elite Feet - but it arrived too late and wasn't quite ready for filming, so the follow-up will be filmed using Odyssey instead. Perhaps if David Braben sees this, we might get EVA assaults and ship interiors too. Maybe even teddy bears. We can only hope.
