Happy Halloween everyone!! I hope everyone had a great October! :D It’s been nearly a month since I uploaded, it was way too difficult to get one out mid-October without overloading on stress. College sucks. :/
This video is pretty different from the covers I’ve done in the past. The original is a lot more rhythmic and has kind of a “heavy” waltz-feel, as well as lots of electronic/percussion. The outcome of this mix was something I definitely did not expect. It was an interesting result, lol.
One of the things I love about the Mario Galaxy soundtrack is its usage of a live orchestra/classical style while still maintaining electronics and sound effects that retain the “space-y” environment. This track definitely uses a lot of synth and percussion. Rather than turning this cover into an acoustic mix, I thought it would be appropriate to incorporate these things.
Btw sorry for the poopy video quality, my capture card doesn't make Wiis look good....
I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT HALLOWEEN THANKS FOR WATCHING BYEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Happy New Year! I took on this project after discovering a music colleague and friend of mine (and one of the few IRL friends I have that likes video game music!) arranged this song for wind quintet! I have performed Richard's woodwind quintet pieces in the past and I was so excited to produce this arrangement. The Hyrule field themes in the Zelda franchise are iconic and this track is no exception. What a fantastic tune that combines several motifs & moods into one theme. By the end of this project, I developed a new appreciation for this track. In analyzing the overworld themes more, I came to realize that no other Zelda overworld theme features three distinct "cycles" -- day, danger, and night. Most feature one, daytime theme, or a combo (Twilight Princess' version, for example, features day & danger) but this track is so lengthy and complex due to its inclusion of those three cycles. Of course, in composing an overworld theme, you have to consider the amount of time spent listening to it, so it's no wonder every single one in the franchise is so iconic and unique!
Speaking of music legends, I recruited the DREAM TEAM for this project and major shout out to my friends who endured these hard parts. Flute and clarinet had some seriously tricky passages and it made me grateful for my somewhat-easy oboe and English horn parts. It is tough knowing that we won't be playing together in person at MAGFest this year, but I always love the outcome of these virtual projects! Mixing chamber music is always a challenge, but the hardest part was lining up the rhythms perfectly—TIME FLEX YOU ROCK. The video editing was a fun challenge, but wow this piece was LONG. It is the longest video I have uploaded to my channel and certainly the most hours put into the video editing. My uncompressed video at the end was 13GB, which would have taken all day to upload with my slowwwww speed. Anyways, I hope you like this video, and thanks for listening!

Hello everyone! Sooo, this may seem like a bizarre song choice, this song is almost NEVER referenced and I don’t think it’s ever been covered. However, I go waaaay back with this song. I used to use the GTS trade station in Black/White all the time resulting in the song being stuck in my head constantly. Then, it started to become kind of an inside-joke “meme” song with me and some friends at the time. Even when starting my VGM covers, this project never crossed my mind. Well, it’s 2021 and I’ve decided to cover this song, haha!
For the performance, I had a really tricky time pulling off those fast runs. Even though most of the runs are in a simple Eb major, it’s a lot harder than it seems. The notes weren’t as difficult as the timing; the tempo and pulse of my arrangement varies from the original and it was really difficult to emphasize note groupings and line up with the met. Additionally, getting both the oboe and flute (one being my non-primary instrument) to match in style, pitch, and articulation was a challenge.
For the mixing, I probably bounced a dozen drafts until I was happy with the right one (doesn’t this happen all the time to music producers, though?) And man, that oboe cuts through HARD. I can’t believe the fader is set so low, and upon my car speaker test, my laptop speaker test, etc… it is apparent the oboe is just a piercing instrument.
For the arrangement, I relaxed the tempo and style, still maintaining a nice forward-pulse while adapting it to a chamber style. Lots of call and response in the high woodwinds and giving every voice a chance at a melody. I tried to write more bass clarinet melodies, but then where are the BASS VOICINGS? Shoutout to all my low-range musicians who have to endure boring parts, hahaha.

I met Sydney at MAGWest back in 2019 and we saw each other again at MAGFest in 2020. She is an excellent pianist and awesome person, thank you Sydney for contributing a heartfelt piano performance ❤️
For the arrangement, it was my intent to minimally change the original tempo and style. The original has such a beautiful, dreamlike quality, and with my matching instrumentation I didn't want to produce something drastically different. I added some woodwind layers, seventh chords, and light orchestral percussion to round out the emptiness and topped it off with a soft string pad. I adjusted the final mix several times, keeping it as high as possible without clipping, as the final audio was fairly quiet with lots of instruments that stuck out (even low range oboe cuts through like crazy!!) The piano plugin I used was actually a stock plugin, which I loved so much I decided to keep it in.
For the video, boiiiiiii was it a process! I had to return to the beach two separate occasions because of the smoke from the California fires. It was still too overcast for my liking, but it is what it is. I showed up to the pier at 5:30 in the morning, was NOT prepared for the cold winds and crowds (even for early morning). Hoping that the disasters subside and my thoughts/prayers are with everyone affected by our awful fires.
Hope you enjoyed it, and I'll see you next video!

It’s been a while since I have done a Final Fantasy cover, and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! The phrases are very much fleshed out, because if you’re familiar with the OG version, it’s surprisingly very basic. This song has been remixed/remastered so many times I wanted to really give it a full start-to-finish “narrative." My first big motivation for covering this song was the highly synthesized oboe in the original. It needed some live touch! (Don’t get me wrong, I love the old sound style, it has its place for sure!)
I hit some major writer’s block with this arrangement, and until examining the original composition further I realized how “dull” (not to mean that I dislike the song or think it’s badly composed! Just that it doesn’t have that iconic melodic drive like you see in Tifa’s Theme, for example) the phrases are. It was really a struggle for me to finish it, especially through the video editing phase. Fun Fact: the (super wrinkled…oops) red shirt that I’m wearing is actually PURPLE and I figured out how to change the color smoothly within my video editing software!
To tell you the truth, I’ve been conflicted on whether or not I should upload considering the current events happening in our news right now. I feel like it may seem insensitive to share something unrelated in the wake of everything that is going on. However, so many of us need art and music right now…the nostalgia and enjoyment of video games and VGM has really been keeping me going throughout these three months of BLAH and I hope that others can feel the same.
I still haven’t gotten the FF7 remake, which is funny because PS4 has been my primary console for a while. Right before it was released, I replayed FF7 (the remastered version) and I forgot how good it was. I know it’s cliche all the way but it truly is one of the best FF’s in my opinion! Let me know if you want any more FF covers and which ones! :)

This piece is not exclusive to New Horizons, it is the universal museum theme for all games. I was surprised to hear how slow and basic the NH version is! It totally works for the game; in fact, all of the AC music must be "atmospheric" to an extent as it lines up with the gameplay! Instead of condensing an arrangement to woodwinds, I did the opposite: Build from a simple theme. Because it's a cover and doesn't serve an in-game purpose, it was appropriate to add buildups, arrivals, and flesh out the instrumentation. If you can identify the arrival quote at 0:41, you're my hero!
For the mix, I doubled the live bass guitar with a programmed Upright Bass, because the Upright has just enough of the percussive quality that I wanted from a bass. If you're wondering why you hear an upright but I'm playing a bass, just know it's doubled! I also panned a little more than I usually do, added a universal reverb rather than having each woodwind voice sit in its own separate reverb, and EQ'd the crap out of the clarinet (no music shops open due to the quarantine, so I had to use a size 2.5 terrible student reed). I've never even heard of this reed brand, which is always a bad sign :P
I do NOT have New Horizons, but yes, I have played the Animal Crossing series for over a decade now. Special thanks to my friend Gwenith for lending me the cartridge to record game footage!

Instruments in this woodwind quintet are flute, oboe, Bb clarinet, English Horn, and Bb Bass Clarinet.
This is not a traditional woodwind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon) but I do not play horn or bassoon proficiently enough to record, so I substituted horn for English Horn (same key, one of the rare instruments in F!) and Bass Clarinet for bassoon (similar range!)
This video is a request from one of my Patreon supporters, frogs_theme, who wanted a song from Link’s Awakening! To tell you the truth, Ballad of the Wind Fish was never in my considerations, but after the remake’s re-imagining of the theme, I fell in love with the song all over again!
This video features a brand new instrument on my channel: Bass Clarinet! I figured it wouldn’t be too different from clarinet, in fact I had played it for about 10 minutes before hitting the record button. I definitely still have work to do with tone, but I am so excited to use it in future arrangements. This instrument is going to transform the way I do my chamber arrangements, because it’s the first bass/low-range woodwind instrument I now have in my arsenal.
The re-harm is a bit different in this one, if you (like me) love the original, some parts may sound weird to you! I think that the 7th chords fit the style, though, hope you at least appreciate the uniqueness :^) I also went back and forth constantly between more reverb and less reverb....In the past, I have masked mediocre playing with a bunch of reverb, and this time I thought it would be more authentic if the playing was more "exposed" with less reverb. After tons of back and forth I finally decided on this final version!
This is the first chamber arrangement I’ve ever done that is 100% acoustic — no percussion, sampled instruments, nothing. Very proud of how it turned out!

I'm back!! This video has been in the works for quite some time now, and I'm excited to share it with you guys! I always remember this particular song from Twilight Princess, and how synthesized the double reeds sounded. I always wanted to give it a little remaster, and I immediately thought of Genna when I wanted to arrange it.
This song is so peaceful yet haunting at the same time. Even when you clear the Twilight Realm in the game, this track still gives the player a bit of an ominous vibe. Although very repetitive, the guitar provides a great soloistic quality with a bit of woodwinds weaving in and out.
I am a HUGE fan of classical guitar; I could listen to it as a solo instrument for hours and never get bored. Go check out Genna's channel, she posts awesome acoustic covers of video game songs that you will be sure to love!! I'll link her again here: bit.ly/2J5LFjp
In the process of audio editing this track I realized how much of a staple the guitar was. The entire arrangement relied on the moving lines of the guitar and the woodwinds were much more "supplementary" in comparison. For this reason, I am so happy with Genna's outstanding performance and recordings and I can't say enough good things about her!

There are so many good character themes in this game, but I chose this one because it's one of my favorites! I really like Primrose and I think she has one of the best quests. There was a lot of things in my arrangement originally that I cut out, so this version is a lot shorter, but I think it's more effective than my old one.

This song is so cute!!! Minish Cap is my favorite 2D Zelda ever!! The music is so wonderful and there's so much more music from this game I would love to do :)
There were so many outtakes from filming this because I kept missing my entrances, due to dancing with happiness!!!!!
This is the first time I've featured acoustic guitar in any of my videos....it's an acoustic-electric, and I could not for the life of me figure out how to get it to sound "acousticy," so unfortunately the sound is not anything like I wanted. I still can't figure out how it works in my DAW so I'll have to sort that out sometime in the future. XD
This song plays at the very beginning of the game, and the scenery, mood, and story progression strongly reminds me of Guardia Millenial Fair from Chrono Trigger. And then gets interrupted by DunDunDun...a Telepod!..Wait, no, I mean Vaati!!

Well, I've hopped on the Octopath VGM trend, and this was a pretty fun cover to produce! I was thrilled to hear that the oboe gets a lot of melodies in this game :) I wanted to achieve two things in the production of this cover: Try out my very new string library, and get used to recording my NEW ENGLISH HORN THAT I JUST BOUGHT!! :) I thought it would be smooth-sailing, but it wasn't XD My English Horn broke the day I started recording, and it took three full days to get it sorted out at a repair shop. Oh well :')
Therion is the best!! Not gonna lie... I don't love all turn-based RPGs (I do love some, just not all), but I'm glad Square did something like this. Between Undertale and Cuphead, man it seems like these trending old-school games have really made it big!!
In the future, I want to try to record as many live instruments as possible. It's just too hard to video edit when the few live instruments are sometimes not playing. It looks awkward, and it's stressful lol XD Plus, I need to get more comfortable with producing tracks that aren't fully-orchestrated or have a ridiculous amount of tracks. I do love doing it, but it doesn't help me improve as a mixer when I can hide behind a lot of muddy tracks behind solo/live parts. I need to be okay with some mistakes and not every cover is going to be perfect.
I hope you guys enjoyed this cover of Therion from Octopath! As always, feel free to suggest a VGM tune in the comments and feel free to follow me on Twitter for more updates and stuff!! Have a great weekend! :D

Between 10 hour work days and catching up on other collabs, I finally got to do something from another RPG game! This game is so beautiful, and has one of my absolute favorite soundtracks. People have told me if I want to start getting more views, I need to cover more popular songs. But I don't care.. XD Hometown Domina is one of my FAVORITE vgm songs EVER!! I started off making the arrangement more of a chamber style, but since it's so short and repetitive I wanted to add a little more to this video. Thus, a (very short) medley was born! For the arrangement, I didn't do really anything differently to the style, I just added some embellishments here and produced more of an orchestral, modern instrumentation. Shimomura is brilliant, all of her stuff is great!
It has now been a year and a half since I started learning flute for this channel, and I think I've definitely improved a ton. I'm still working on the tone and getting a more pure sound quality, but technicality-wise I know I've gotten so much better! I want to start trying to practice and taking it more seriously, as I could work towards having it be a solid instrument in my skillset. I've started working on correct fingerings/technique to improve, and I think I'm already getting a lot better! As for the oboe solo, I know it's a little out of tune/not the best (I'm SOWWYYYY) but I couldn't re-record it in time and I need to make a new batch of reeds!!
Due to a very generous Patreon supporter, I am learning the new Adobe Premiere Pro video editing software, which I am VERY excited about. It is also very helpful for the Photoshop app to help with thumbnails and stuff. This community is so wonderful and supportive, I am so grateful :)

This video was arranged nearly five months ago, and was actually a request from my friend Kat, the flute player in this video! When discussing the Mario Galaxy soundtrack, she tells me how much she loves Dusty Dunes and would love to be a part of an arrangement. I thought to myself, "Dusty Dunes..? I've really never heard of anyone loving Dusty Dunes...and how in the world am I supposed to arrange something like THAT?" And so I challenged myself to do something very weird and out of the ordinary and here the video is five months later!
I've never had any experience on a guitar instrument in my life, but I've ALWAYS wanted to learn bass. Ya girl is tired of playing such soprano instruments! I somehow incorporated it into my video, and since it was so difficult to learn in a day, I ended up doubling the part on piano to give some extra instruments to cover up for little "gaps" in the sound. Pls don't judge me I literally started learning bass guitar less than a week ago lol :^)
The bass and alto flute belong to our studio professor in college, and we had a single week to record and shoot before giving it back, those things are DIFFICULT and VERY HEAVY.... shooting was a nightmare in these desert fields due to the heat and sun in our eyes, but it's always fun filming when there's other people to accompany you!!!!
If you have a song request, suggest it in the comments! I read all suggestions and take them into consideration! Thanks for watching byeeeee :)

Good luck to everyone that entered, and I can't wait to see everyone's entries!!
This cover introduced two major things I’ve never done in any of my videos: Voice as a major emphasis, an absence of double reeds, and a completely different style! Feedback is greatly appreciated. And if you guys liked this video, let me know and I might do something similar again!

I’m surprised I haven’t done more Zelda covers on my channel, I think the music is fantastic and it is one of my favorite series! I was so paranoid after my first copyright fiasco that I’ve been avoiding popular franchises such as Zelda, but let’s hope that doesn’t happen again. :P
I originally had a video planned for last week, but had to delay it due to the fact that I am learning a new instrument, and had a big family trip this past week. I needed something last-minute to upload that didn't require as much recording stress (this cover uses much more computer-based and MIDI programming!) and oboe reed-making due to the lack of time I had. I wanted to participate in Soundole's challenge, so this was originally planned as a quick, easy synth cover...and it ended up turning into quite a big production!
I have always loved Lake Hylia from Twilight Princess, and thought it was such a peaceful tune, and what caused me to turn it into a mash-up was the similar chord progressions to Serenade of Water! I added a lot of stuff in this cover, such as writing out melodies to accompany the repetitive sections & transition, various quotes, and dissonant chords within the vocals. I'm not a trained singer by any means, so recording the vocals took probably a hundred tries and constant tuner-watching. This is the first time since my two brass covers I did not use any double reeds!
Headphones are recommended for listening, as I did some very noticeable things in the mix; I mimicked the sound of "raindrops" from echoing staccato sections in the guitar and later flutes, and panned quite extensively throughout the mix. The vocal sections pan in and out in really interesting ways, to give the most soundscape-y quality.
Let me know if you guys like this style, and anything I can improve on, since I've been trying some new stuff lately. THANKS FOR WATCHING :D:D:D:D

As an avid fan of Chrono Trigger, I never got around to playing Chrono Cross prior to this year. MY GOODNESS.....the music is just spectacular! Yasunori Mitsuda outdid himself on this one. After the high expectations of the Chrono Trigger soundtrack, I couldn't believe how amazing CC's OST was. There are so many other songs I would love to arrange in the future!
For the arrangement, this is probably the most interesting and unique I've done by far. I took some melodies here and there from the original and the open-fifth drone very common to Renaissance-style music. I took those things and multiplied it a bunch, adding a ton of motifs on top of one another. From the opening oboe (emulating what sounds like a bagpipe), it is clear the ornamentations and such are very different than what I've studied as a classical player! It was the first time I was content with using a "brighter," more harsh-sounding reed. And you can't complete a medieval-Renaissance piece without a tin whistle of some sort, so this was the first project I learned piccolo! WHOO-HOO!
Believe it or not, I was so close to ditching this arrangement and the stress of not being able to find a good song for this album was overwhelming! It definitely worked out in the end, and I like the outcome of the arrangement, mix, and performance!
Thanks guys for sticking around, since this is the first upload in a few months due to school! These past few months have been pretty rough, but I am looking forward to the summer to work on new projects. A week from today I will be a college graduate! Stay tuned for some cool things to come!!

I've always been really drawn to this song, and it is just criminally underrated compared to the Night theme! My ideas for the song was to create more of a start and finish as well as a build, as the original has the repetitive harp line and the mood stays relatively same throughout. It reminds me a lot of the Final Fantasy tracks, and I wanted to experiment with a lot of voices. Props to anyone who catches the quote in the intro! I added traditional orchestral percussion & strings to connect the sections and round out the sound. Definitely the most heavy instrumentation out of anything I've done. :')
I figured I HAD to do at least one more winter cover before the season ends, and after three different attempts (three cases where I had to completely scrap the arrangement) I ended up going with this one. I finally have my recording stuff set up after having to clear out my entire living space for weeks, so I'm back to uploading regular covers :) Unfortunately I probably won't be able to do biweekly videos. I'm taking 24 units and also working part time, juggling an almost-graduation and a senior recital. I don't have a single free day in the entire week, and I would rather not overload on stress. Sorry for the somewhat infrequent uploads!
As always, let me know if you have any suggestions for future covers. I hope everyone has a great rest of their week. ^.^

It's been a while since I've uploaded, but I finally got through a 22-unit semester of constant performances, recitals, exams, and work! The moment I started playing Odyssey I got the idea to arrange this piece. Though I tried my hardest to get this video out earlier, I am glad it is finally here! Odyssey is incredible, guys. I had been anticipating that game for so long and I am just thrilled by how amazing it was. I finished the game a while ago and am currently working on leeeee hundred percenting~
If you guys aren't familiar with the original, the middle section (restated in the piano) is something I wrote out separate from the original track, it felt like a "vamp" section to me and I didn't really know what to plop in there without it just being VSTs over live tracks. The transcription process of this song was pretty fun with all the happy percussion, and writing out a completely new section was even more fun! This song took me the longest out of any project I've ever done, as there were over 20 tracks.
I also learned tin whistle for this one....which is officially the cheapest instrument I own priced at $6. I wish my oboe costed that much. It was a fun little instrument to do!

Live instruments include English Horn, piano, oboe, and flute.
I hope you guys enjoy this cover of Terra! I notated basically a transcription of this piece, as the original features a very lengthy English Horn solo. I was going for more of a "remastered" version of this song using a live instrument with similar reverb effects. Like a couple videos I've done in the past, this cover features all live instruments.
I also recorded live with audio and video together, which is a challenge when you have a double reed instrument that's in danger of frequently going out of tune in one large take! There are some notes in the EH solo that were a little out of tune, but this is as accurate as I could in one single take.
I really love FF9, especially its soundtrack, probably one of my favorites in the series. This scene is really cool in game as well, it really shows how far this franchise came visually coming from the earlier installments.
Not gonna lie, this cover was extremely last minute. I did everything in a day and a half. College has been extremely stressful and trying to get a video out within the two weeks was really difficult. I know now I really need to start managing my time better because doing a complete cover from start to finish in a day and a half is just too hard.
I really hope you guys enjoyed my cover, and I hope everyone's school/work fall season is going well! Halloween is just around the corner, I hope to think of some spooky-themed songs coming up!

Hello everyone!! I am SO excited to share this one with you guys, I finally arranged and recorded something for woodwind quintet. Most people don't know this about me but I am extremely interested in wind quintet literature and it's one of my absolute favorite things to arrange. Unfortunately it's very difficult to round up four other players in the midst of crazy college semesters!
I want to thank the horn player, my friend Sam for helping me make these parts look clean and nice, as well as adding some really great stuff that made this arrangement way better. I had to do the sheet music fully by ear, and when I was finished the parts were very sloppy. THANK YOU SAM! youtube.com/user/samuelpk3
This cover came out way later than expected; the data from my external hard drive is currently unreachable and I am still looking for solutions to recover all of my files. This video footage is a re-shoot of what we previously recorded. Props to my friends for agreeing to do this despite technical difficulties. I appreciate and love them so much!

This is a nice, lyrical tune that I really love from Ruby/Sapphire. There have been a couple staff rolls from this franchise that have really beautiful ending themes, and this is no exception. I'm also currently replaying through Emerald right now, I forgot how much I love it!

All instruments in this arrangement are recorded, I did not use any virtual instruments this time around. It was very difficult not relying on more bass voices to round out the sound, so I really had to EQ the bass quite a bit. I played the piano in two separate voices for some parts because I kept making mistakes during the chorus section. Writing this music for woodwinds was pretty straightforward, I wrote an English Horn countermelody under the oboe and just added in different woodwind layers on the second loop. I originally had a long flute solo written out but I couldn't make it happen technically, so oboe and English Horn were the driving melodies in this cover.
This is also the first video with my brand new mic and camera. However I don't consider this video an upgrade yet because it wasn't as easy as I thought...with new equipment comes figuring out what sounds/looks good, not to mention figuring out how to troubleshoot! For example my interface was on an incorrect setting and my microphone's R speaker was out...I freaked out and I thought the mic was busted! I almost sent it back when I realized I needed a different input setting. Ha. I also had my camera settings wrong, and I realized it right after the video was uploading. Baaaaaaah I suck.
I have some cool things planned for my next cover, thinking about a Mario game!! It might be a little while before a next cover because I'm headed back to school tomorrow, but it won't be too long!

These are all my wonderful fellow music students at my university and great friends of mine, thank you guys so so so so much!!
I actually arranged this piece a LONG time ago, before I started even recording oboe or doing any audio projects. Upon discovering this music, I cleaned up some parts and my awesome friends agreed to record for me! The style may understandably put off a lot of people, as the continuous eighth notes are what makes the piece drive and have a full "overworld" feel. Originally, I planned it to be more of a chorale style, but it just doesn't work without some sort of driving rhythm, so the drums compensate for that a little bit. There are nine horns in this arrangement, despite only showing the key solos/features in the video. I just neglected to film more shots.
Also, I'M PROUD TO SAY THAT AFTER THIS VIDEO I WILL NO LONGER BE USING MY CURRENT AUDIO AND VIDEO EQUIPMENT!!!!!! This is probably not exciting for anyone else but I am beyond thrilled lol. I am not using my USB microphone from now on, but a brand new interface and microphone. More importantly, I'm ditching the trashy camcorder for a brand new, MUCH better setup, along with perhaps a new DAW that I am learning. This will be a massive production improvement to my content. Next project will certainly be a lot easier and more enjoyable.
Game footage was recorded by me on a GameCube using Elgato capture card with the HDMI adapter. I don't own WWHD so I apologize for the GC wind waker quality. :-)

I was very drawn to this song from the beginning. At its roots, this melody is highly repetitive, but the orchestration and instrumentation make it a simple, hauntingly beautiful piece. The piano part is very simple and is a great substitution for harp, which is why I wanted to focus on piano rather than my usual woodwinds. I think in the future I will continue to use more piano in my covers. It's an instrument I've kind of neglected ever since I switched to oboe.
I know FFXII drew some criticism for its music, but I have always been fascinated with the simple melodies composed into beautiful pieces. I really hope to cover more from this game. Haven't gotten the remake yet, but I plan to purchase it. :D Also sorry it's a hot mess in the double reed parts...I was recording in triple digit heat, literally. Hope I never have to experience that again haha.

Special thanks to my fellow collaborator in this video, Jamail! We had a lot of fun arranging this piece, as the collaborative process ended up working very well. I originally wanted to do classical and Jamail wanted to do jazz, so we found a way to combine the two! We worked in a small woodwind ensemble section around 0:44 and featuring woodwinds for the leading melodies throughout the piece, as well as working in a leading jazz rhythm + improv/technical section at the end. Different styles really lead to interesting results!

I would consider this a less-minimalist cover of the original, not exactly a "full" orchestration. Regardless, this was a lot of fun to make!!

This song appears in the part of the game where Crono is wrongly accused of kidnapping Marle upon returning in 1000 AD after the Yakra battle in the Guardia Castle. After this trial, Crono flees prison with the help of Lucca and Marle. It's a pretty lengthy cutscene, and the music is fantastic!
Live woodwinds include: English Horn, clarinet, flute, and oboe. There were nine woodwind tracks layered together (a record!) plus VST strings, primarily used for the middle section that doesn't match the beginning and end theme.

This song appears in very limited parts of the game, most notably the memory "Revali's Flap" which I gathered the footage from. The song from start to finish is the most noticeable in the OST. The song was more of a piece rather than an atmospheric track used in game, and I loved the melody of it. Revali, though arrogant and conceited, is an AWESOME character. This was a lot of fun to arrange and edit.

When first listening to the Breath of the Wild OST, I immediately fell in love with this track as I recognized the theme of Dragon Roost Island. Sooo....this game is hardly three days old. And I am enjoying every second of it. Everything about this game is so different from the other Zelda titles, especially the music. I enjoy the new changes, even though I'm not very far into the game (you can tell by my lack of heart pieces). I have been playing since launch and hopefully I discover some other notable cover-able pieces! When I do, I will work on them as fast as I can!
When I think of the Breath of the Wild soundtrack, one word comes into mind: PIANO. When I started playing I thought about recording a few pieces on piano, until I came across Gerudo City and thought about a woodwind arrangement. I tried to add effects on the woodwind recordings to give it the original echo-y effect, as well as adding percussion layers.
