Routing sucks and like in SL there are a lot of random slopes that give insane amounts of speed.

For most of the video, you can only hear the Dark-World Mario. This is because audio from all 3 Marios at the same time can be quite overwhelming, even with the music turned off.
Because Mario traverses three different stages, desyncing the different versions isn't necessary. This makes the strategy involved a lot easier. When you compare Bowser in the Sky to the other two stages, it is actually a lot bigger. To minimize the total time, it is best to focus on clearing BitS, and doing the other two stages 'along the way'. This is why some parts, like the tripple amp hit and repeated ledgegrabbing near the cheeseblock may seem slow, but don't actually lose time.
Unfortunately, the three videos and the STROOP-input viewer can fall a frame or two behind each other and not be exactly synchronized. This is purely due to video editing and rendering, and I can't do much about it without going through the video frame by frame and spending way too much time.
Here you can find the exact time it took for each stage:
==========================
Bowser in the Dark World: 54.13
Bowser in the Fire Sea: 56.42
Bowser in the Sky: 1:01.12.
BitDW and BitFS seem further appart than you'd think when watching the video. This is due to lots of lagg frames in BitFS.
I made this TAS with Multimupen, a program made by Madghostek (youtube.com/channel/UCqGw9_iYSGFYpXiy_lDhCpw) that allows you to record multiple m64-movies at the same time. Make sure to check them out! You can download the program here: (github.com/Madghostek/Multimupen)
I used a total of 3431 (times 3) rerecords.
The average time is 57.22 seconds, and the time per stage is roughly 20.37 seconds.
The point of the same input challenge is to create an input file (an m64 file) that collects different stars, depending on which savestate you start the file with. So in this case, I created 1 m64 file and 6 different savestates.
There are a couple of visual elements in the video that might need some explanation.
-The map on the top-right corner of the screen shows the positions of all 6 versions of Mario. It might be off by a frame or two though, since I had to record it in real time.
-The input viewer on the bottom-right corner shows the inputs for all 6 stars.
-The power stars with the numbers 1 through 6 on them show which runs are contained in the screen above. This is so that I do not have to show all 6 screens all the time.
-The icons on the bottom-left corner of the various screens show how the runs are desynced from oneanother. So a Bob-omb King icon means that the presence of the King made the run desync from the others.
The total number of rerecords for this run is 9767, but I should point out that 1 rerecord in this run takes a lot more time than in a regular single-star TAS. Loading a savestate while having 5 different mupen windows open at the same time takes a long time to process.
I made this TAS with the help of Multimupen, a program made by Madghostek (youtube.com/channel/UCqGw9_iYSGFYpXiy_lDhCpw) that allows you to record multiple m64-movies at the same time. You can download it here! (github.com/Madghostek/Multimupen)
For this run, I started by going over to Koopa the Quick, and talking to them whith stars 2,4, and 5. Meanwhile I go over to King Bob-omb, where I let Star 1 talk to him. Stars 3 and 6 go over to the island where they desync because the cannon is opened for star 6, but not for star 3. I later desync star 5 from star 2 and 4 by using the same cannon. Lastly, I used different starting RNG values to make the goomba near the red coins star take a different path for star 2 and 4. This way, Mario-4 will receive knockback from the goomba while star 2 barely avoids it.

Here's how to do it: slowly walk of the edge near the wooden bridge. After you finish climbing up from a ledgegrab, make sure the camera (in lakitu - far away mode) is turned as much to the right as possible. Hold the joystick down at low magnitude. If you ledgegrab you must climb back up and hold the joystick slightly down again. If you don't ledgegrab, you will walk a bit over the bridge and ledgegrab yet another time. Turn the camera 2 times to the left and hold the joystick downwards with low magnitude after letting mario pull himself up from the previous ledgegrab. Turn the camera to the right, let mario ledgegrab, pull him up, turn the camera 2 times to the left and ledgegrab. Now you can follow this up as you usually would with cannonless.
Please note: Mario must come to a complete standstill ('idle' action) after every ledgegrab except the final ledgegrab like in the normal cannonless.
This took 10050 rerecords.

I made a route and splits in Livesplit, but I didn't stick to the route in my run, so the splits you see aren't that informative.
Start of 'Find the 8 red coins' has a few idle frames
0:00 Tippy-top to the Waterfall
0:16 Jump on the Blue Blocks
0:37 Frozen Flux SLide
1:06 C1 reds + blues
2:00 Red Coins on the Beach
2:33 Find the 8 Red Coins
Gotta love the 'Camera can't turn' sound effect.
I accidentally continued after normal stopping at 5:06, instead of quickstopping, but I cba to reTAS the entire star after I was finished.
Airship Force 0:00
Ascended Paradise 1:16
Planet Wisp Constructions 2:10
Jungle Falls 2:46
Freezeflame Trials 3:40
Cosmic Wall 4:22
Cosmic Cart Joy Ride 5:39
-1f by having a better angle going into the misalignment 0:03
-3f by having a better angle towards the door in the room with the gap in the middle 0:13
-36f by diving over the rail and skipping the bridge 0:18
-2f with better movement in between two doors 0:23
-14f by killing the boo earlier and not using a slidekick 0:27
-24f by better movement after killing the boos 0:39
-36f by killing king boo earlier and raising the stairs sooner 0:46
-4f with a faster eru drop 0:58
A small part of this TAS was done by Fifdspence (youtube.com/channel/UCXubFNfZaMVLsTZzKcgnHOQ ). He TASed from 0:10 - up to the boo kill, and the first half of the painting room 0:34 - 0:40.
I think there are definetely more frames to be saved here. This TAS should however give a rough estimate for Go on a ghost hunt and Secret of the haunted books, which can be copy pasted all the way up to the final ledgegrab (Though RNG does play a factor). Hopefully this comes in handy for routing 70abc.
I might try to actually do this route RTA, although I would love others to try. I think there's even more room for improvement, and I might look into this star a little more.
Please note, I accidentally did the beginning 0xA instead of 0.5xA. I noticed this mistake when I was done with the TAS. The beginning is non-terminating and since it's just a theory tas, I decided that it doesn't really matter. Just imagine I held A the entire time.
A press saves
=======================
Here is a list of the 6.5 A presses that this run saves over the current best RTA run, 18 A presses by egg. It's worth noting that he used the 'still' clock setting in his run, while I used the 'slow' setting. link: youtube.com/watch?v=W38vSL7SwrQ&feature=youtu.be
-2 A presses by climbing the spinners instead of the treadmill and rotating block
-0.5 A presses by double jump wallkicking from the hand instead of the rotating blocks.
-2 A presses by breaking the [!] box on the octagonal with a ZB kick into GP from higher up by climbing the unfrozen clockparts
-2 A presses for using different coin routing (for example the coins behind the thwomp)
A presses

This run is far from optimal, I'm not good at TASing something really fast. I just like the puzzle-solving aspect of this challenge.
Here is a list of key differences that caused the star to desync from the others:
Star 1: First star selected, HOLP far away from cabin
Star 2: HOLP near cabin, Cannon not opened
Star 3: Second star selected, HOLP far away from cabin
Star 4: HOLP near cabin, Cannon opened
Star 5: Fifth star selected
Star 6: Opening textbox
I used hacks to create the savestates, though they are all possible to achieve without the use of hacks. I hacked the global timer and RNG to be the same in every single savestate.
Important: after I collect star 6, the screen gets replaced by the 100 coin (star 7) file.
Here is a short list of the important differences between the files:
1. The HOLP is set near the last red coin, so Mario can grab it instead of collecting the last red coin. Star 1 is selected to fight King Whomp.
2. The HOLP is set to the same position as in the first file. Further more, star 2 is selected so the fortress will appear in stead of King Whomp.
3. This file is the only one file to have the cannon aready opened.
4. This file has the HOLP set far away from Mario, so he will not come across it after releasing the cork box.
5. Star 3 is selected, so this is the only file that has the pink bob-omb buddy present.
6. This file is the only one that has never entered WF before, so it gets a textbox.
7. The HOLP is set next to a wall, near the last red coin. This way, Mario can collect a yellow coin from the corkbox and spawn the 100 coin star.
In this video, I collect 6 different stars in Bob-omb Battlefield using the same inputs. The only difference is the starting savestate. This is known as the Same Input Challenge. The previous best run was by Conor McMahon and uploaded by Thestickman391 (youtube.com/watch?v=hMt7H6yeKR4&feature=youtu.be). He also collected 6 stars, with a time of about 12:10. Through a combination of the selected star, the wingcap being activated or not and the cannon being opened or not I was able to de-synchronize the runs.
Here is the basic information for each savestate:
For star 1 I selected star 1. For star 2 I selected star 2. For star 3 I selected star 3 and had neither the wingcap switch nor the cannon activated. For star 4 I had activated the cannon, but not the wingcap switch. For star 5 I had both the wingcap and the cannon activated. For star 6, I made sure to have never visited BoB before, so I would get a textbox.
