The result of years of planning, design, development, and manufacturing by our unparalleled team, and a testament to the relentless pursuit of innovation and collaboration that exists within the walls of our company, we humbly celebrate this milestone as we begin eyeing our test flights window. Uncrewed test flights pave the way for human test flights later this year. Data gathered during our upcoming flights will inform the build of a human-rated Spaceship Neptune capsule, which will be only the seventh new human spacecraft designed and built in the last 50 years. The future of human space travel is here.

Introducing our first completed test capsule, Spaceship Neptune - Excelsior. Excelsior is now the largest spaceflight capsule in existence, and soon to be the largest human spacecraft in operation (excluding the International Space Station). Its spherical capsule is 16 feet (4.9 meters) in diameter, providing a pressurized volume of more than 2,000 cubic feet (60 cubic meters) – roughly two times the volume of Virgin Galactic’s Spaceship Two and Blue Origin’s New Shepard, and about four times that of SpaceX's Crew Dragon.

During Development Flight 2 in September, we captured these breathtaking perspectives at increasing altitudes of the ascent Explorers will see from the comforts of the Space Lounge.

This full-scale flight test successfully tested a multitude of key systems needed to safely launch the capsule to 100,000 ft (30,480 m) and bring it back in a controlled descent to ocean splashdown.
The completion of this flight kicks off a series of further uncrewed test flights that will examine every possible corner case as well as test our redundancy systems to ensure the safest future operations as we progress toward crewed test flights and commercialization.
Spaceship Neptune is poised to offer a transformative six-hour experience to the edge of space. Propelled by our SpaceBalloon™, it will carry Explorers at a gentle 12 mph (~19 kph) pace. Aboard, you will find a comfortable and luxurious experience—complete with a Space Lounge, a proper restroom, and even a bar. Explorers can enjoy the life-changing experience with fellow passengers or share it with friends and family Earthside through the capsule’s Wi-Fi.
This flight tested a multitude of systems, including launch & ascent through our patented launch system aboard MS Voyager, cabin pressure and stability at peak altitude aboard the capsule, our Environmental Control and Life Support systems, and all aspects of our SpaceBalloon™, including the material performance and our patent pending venting mechanisms. We also tested capsule communications with Mission Control and Voyager. While these are just a few of the many complex systems, the entire flight profile was successfully executed and all systems operated nominally. The data received will be analyzed and applied to future flights and iterations of the capsule as we prepare for additional uncrewed flights, and crewed test flights in the future.
Astronauts often return from missions with a fire inside them to get involved with social and environmental causes. He emphasizes the life-changing aspect of seeing Earth from the blackness of space—and highlights the very experience Explorers will have aboard Spaceship Neptune with us and our mission to bring more people to space than ever before.

The #photograph was also the #inspiration behind this poignant message from Carl Sagan about the shared home we all inhabit. Sagan reminds us of "the responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known."
Sagan's Pale Blue Dot speech inspires every one of us at Space Perspective. His message drives our mission to take as many #humans to space as possible - to broaden horizons and foster an immense appreciation for our beautiful #planet. Join us in celebrating this day, which aptly falls on Valentine's Day, as we carry forward a message of #unity, #stewardship, and #wonder, and as we encourage all living things to fall deeper in #love with our planet.

We've recently completed the custom A-frame, which holds the capsule during launch and lifts the capsule back onto the vessel during retrieval. MS Voyager is an innovation that will allow us to scale operations – we will be able to launch from more locations and create ideal, safe launch conditions at sea. The ship and its amenities will also provide Explorers with a very special voyage before and after their spaceflights.
Voyager’s name is inspired by the groundbreaking achievements of NASA's Voyager probes. Launched in 1977, Voyager 1 and 2 ventured far into the Solar System, unveiling secrets of distant planets. Our own Voyager is an homage to the legacy of exploration and discovery set forth by these probes, which are still operational today.

Unfortunately, Larry passed away before he could fulfill their shared dream. Before he did, however, he made Carol, his wife of 35 years, promise that she would still make the journey for both of them. Now, she’s fulfilling that promise by taking Larry’s ashes, along with their son Chris, to the edge of space.
Learn more about Carol, her husband, Larry, and the special journey they shared and continue to share in this first installation of our new series where we share special stories from our Explorer community.

The particularly singular nature of Earth's existence in the universe has perhaps never been better epitomized than in the Pale Blue Dot, a photo taken on Valentine’s Day, 1990, from a distance of 3.7 billion miles. At astronomer Carl Sagan's urging, the Milky-Way-bound satellite Voyager turned its cameras for one last, fleeting look at home before it journeyed to the edge of the cosmos. The result–in which our planet takes up a mere .12 pixels on a vast backdrop of black–inspired one of Sagan’s most stirring essays, in which he contemplated the paradoxical and sometimes misplaced perceptions we have as being the center of the universe; the humbling buzz, responsibility, and opportunity we all have as fleeting residents on this "mote of dust in a sunbeam." These thoughts have only become more relevant in the decades since they were written as we face environmental challenges requiring genius, cooperation, and motivation.
Carl Sagan words are taken from his 1994 book, "Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space" and remind us of the power of space travel to transform our perspective on the planet and our place within it. Space Perspective will bring that to the world by providing the quintessential astronaut experience–seeing Earth from the blackness of space–to as many people as possible.
We are honored and thankful to collaborate with Ann Druyan, an Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning writer, producer and director, and Sagan’s widow and long-time collaborator, to bring his meditation and lasting words to a new generation.

The 272ft vessel is powered by more than 8,000 horsepower and holds onboard generators that produce over 1 megawatt of electricity. Voyager’s incredibly precise mobility and dynamic positioning is made possible by two bow thrusters (one of which rotates a full 360 degrees) and two stern thrusters that rotate 360 degrees.
