Metroid Dread Tutorial - Camera Lock for Early Screw Attack w/ Speed Booster RoboRotembo 2021-10-29 | Quickly made, but fairly exhaustive video on the first application of a new glitch including concept, routing changes, execution tips, and other optimizations. Using a glitch to repeat the melee tutorial, we can break the tutorial and lock the camera in one room. The camera view normally follows Samus and determines which actors are loaded in on a room by room basis. Actors encompass every object that isn't just solid collision including cutscene triggers, doors, breakable blocks, enemies, water, spider walls, pressure pads, flippers, etc. After activating this, we can move wherever we want in Artaria, and deactivate it using a shine spark to reset the camera back to Samus.Using this we can reach the Artaria to Burenia elevator near screw attack. This elevator is normally unreachable unless the elevator is taken from Burenia due to a 1 way missile door. By getting in here we can charge speed booster in this area, access the normally inaccessible missile tank for 100%, and use the diffusion mass from behind to get screw attack. This method does not require any precise shine clips, but does require blind movement through Artaria. This may or may not be faster than the shine sink clipping method currently used for any%, but allowing 100% to obtain SA early is a big leap.We've only just found this first instance of camera detachment, but other methods to detach (not restricted to Artaria), other methods to reattach (not requiring speed booster), or other uses for this current method (steal omega cannon from EMMI 1) all could be possible and create more potential skips.
Metroid Dread Tech - Crouch Turnaround Flash Shift (Easier Shine Sink Setup) RoboRotembo 2021-11-21 | This is a small demonstration video for a slight extension of the flash slide state used for shine sink clipping when starting from the crouching turnaround animation. The crouching turnaround by itself has some interesting quirks, and I was able to get a shine sink without even sliding with it once (probably much more precise than it's worth), but the value comes in combining crouch turnaround flash shift with flash slide.Sliding at the same time you perform the crouch turnaround flash shift will give an easy method to perform flash slides, which in turn makes shine sink easier. The shine activation is more precise but with the flash slide being easier and more consistent you can just focus on timing. I'm pretty bad at SSC and I got it on second try when recording this video.Adding extra slide/morph inputs also can give you more glitchy things that normal flash slides can't do, though I wasn't able to actually execute any tricks using these new things.
Metroid Dread Glitch - Cutscene Re-enabling RoboRotembo 2021-11-21 | This video is an explanation and demonstration of the glitch which re-enables the melee tutorial cutscene by heading straight to Corpius and reloading.Boss cutscenes have to be re-enabled every time you die or reload at a boss checkpoint, so the checkpoint resets them. If you have not activated any checkpoints between any cutscene and the boss cutscene, it will be reset along with the boss cutscenes. I demonstrate this by re-enabling the EMMI 2 introduction cutscene using sequence breaks, though actually entering the reactivated cutscene is not possible without save editing due to the same sequence breaks.There are a lot of checkpoints throughout the game, and most cutscenes have checkpoints immediately afterwards. Even if we could re-enable every cutscene, it's uncertain if any will be as useful as camera lock from the melee tutorial cutscene but knowing the mechanics is always worthwhile.Music Used -Brinstar Depths - Super Smash Bros. Metroid Dread Skip - Screw Attack Before Plasma RoboRotembo 2021-10-20 | Hopefully this skip is RTA viable, but the amount of time you have to perform the Flash Slide Shine Clip is extremely tight above screw attack and it takes forever to set it back up so maybe it shouldn't be. I set up into the clips manually, but used a short TAS I made of the clip inputs itself to make sure that I didn't get a good run into the blue teleportal room and then waste it.I didn't manage to record the speed booster sequence in the same replay as the clip itself, so I went back and recorded another good sequence into the blue teleportal room.This is just a demonstration. The dash melee morph pseudo in particular requires a setup to get to the correct distance from the wall, since being against the wall will clip your shots to the other side of it.
Metroid Dread Tech - Dash Melee and Flash Slide Pseudo Waves RoboRotembo 2021-10-18 | This is a video taking a slightly closer look at the three most recent pseudo wave methods since two of them are strange. Dash Melee Pseudo was discovered by a Japanese user nekoja_action. It's simply a dash melee into free aim in a 1 tile column.Dash Melee Morph Pseudo was discovered by kaloncpu57 and is now used for early space jump. The inputs are dash melee against a wall, free aim, aim inwards (away from wall), and morph. The glitchy flash slide was first shown by Aliensquekytoy, and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the state with the glitchy flash slide pseudo being a side result. I mainly wanted to make a video on it, but I don't understand much besides the pseudo itself so I just made this video. The inputs are flash slide toward a wall, slide near the wall (timing can be strange), turnaround, and shoot down and away from the wall while in the backwards animation. Getting the flash shift to register the glitchy slide can be a pain sometimes.NOTE: I test and record my videos on Yuzu for ease, but every glitch is reproducible on console.
Metroid Dread Tech - DT Slide Pseudo Wave w/ Drogyga Skip RoboRotembo 2021-10-15 | This is a method for Psuedo Wave that is very fast, easy, and with a great range of angles. It allows for possibly the easiest Drogyga skip setup, but doesn't fix the early psuedo shots for EMMI 1 skip and early cloak. The diffusion blobs near Kraid seem to be stubborn though.NOTE: I am labbing and recording on Yuzu for ease. Metroid Dread Glitch - Mystery Move RoboRotembo 2021-10-15 | As of 1.0.2 this glitch is patched.A mystery move is a "useless" glitch in morph ball launchers that will either spawn you at the exit somewhat normally, or softlock you. It's possible a mystery move can activate some trigger or checkpoint during the move, or simply take less time than a normal launch. The second option is unlikely as mystery moves seem to end at the same time as a normal launch, but usually will take more time as more rooms are loaded.NOTE: I am labbing and recording on Yuzu for ease. All glitches are reproducible on console and I own a switch and Dread.
Metroid Dread Tech - Reverse Standing Pseudo Wave RoboRotembo 2021-10-15 | This is a very short tutorial on Reverse Standing Pseudo Wave, which is used to get speed booster bombless and enter the screw attack area diffusionless. Metroid Dread Glitch - Ledge Warp and Space Ball RoboRotembo 2021-10-14 | Found with the collaboration of the Metroid Dread Speedrunning discord, Ledge Warping is a precise tech with the potential to break a lot of sequences in this game. This is just a basic tutorial on how the glitch works, further applications of the trick and how it interacts with various parts of the game are yet to be seen. There's no way to set up for this kind of trick, so it's reliant on practice to be able to perform consistently, being a 1 frame trick.Included as well is a movement trick based on the same mantle animation causing Samus to be launched high in the air after morphing over a ledge. Since this is caused by a different frame of the same glitch, I included it here.Video was recorded on Yuzu just to have a consistent way to perform it. It works the same on console.
Metroid Dread Skip - Speed Booster Before Bombs RoboRotembo 2021-10-12 | Using a reverse standing pseudo wave, we can skip the bomb check in Burenia allowing us to obtain speed booster before bombs. This makes use of early grapple, and is possible diffusionless, though may take a significantly longer time due to precise tricks.If a use for early super missiles is found, this could be used to save time by going to the bomb area with speed booster already, where early super missiles is performed.

Metroid Dread Tech - Reverse Crouch Pseudo Wave RoboRotembo 2021-10-12 | Credit to z1mb0way for initially finding the ability to shoot straight down with this. Pseudo-wave seems like it's a difficult to understand tech name but I think it's stuck already.Unlike the wall jump pseudo wave, this one actually has a much different angle and setup, though there's a lot of slide gaps and morph ball holes meaning solid walls are actually pretty rare.As is mentioned in the video, most diffusion blobs have extra collision surrounding them so more pseudo wave clips don't help that much for skipping diffusion. No clue how this may be applied elsewhere, but it's at least very consistent where you can set it up.
Metroid Dread - Wall Jump Pseudo-Wave Beam RoboRotembo 2021-10-11 | Frame 1 shooting after a wall jump seems to shift the shooting point upwards similar to the slide-ceiling bonk setup for pseudo-wave beam. Unfortunately this still only allows us to clip shots through ceilings, just in places where the slide setup won't work.
Metroid Dread Skip - Speed Booster Without Diffusion RoboRotembo 2021-10-11 | After obtaining bombs early through any early bomb method, this block keeps you from speed booster without diffusion. Clipping shots through walls is done by sliding then jumping into a ceiling and shooting as you bonk, you need to get a diagonal shot from the side to hit the mass. Test your technique in the upper-left corridor to see if you can hit the door. It's very precise.Update: Running into more diffusion masses (after breaking them they're not shown on completed maps which is how I routed. Two block the way at screw attack, and I'm trying to get diffusion without fighting Kraid using similar methods for the possibility of Varia suitless (though Kraid might be possible Varia-less having plasma beam and supers to get through phase 1 quick, bombs for phase 2 quick kill, and extra e-tanks)

Smash Turnaround Cancels - SSBU Banjo Tech Tutorial RoboRotembo 2020-06-22 | Smash Turnaround Cancels are another version of the turnaround cancel tech recently discovered for Banjo's Breegull Blaster mode. This version uses the vestigial smash attack system that is not supposed to exist within the Breegull Blaster mode to temporarily allow turnarounds. This version is extremely difficult to execute even with optimizations and is more restrictive than landing turnaround cancels, but has very good uses.Additional info on STC:Smash attacks can be "held" and you have a 3-frame window upon release to turnaround, but there is no increase in power or apparent use for this function.Up and Down smash inputs do not work, but a back smash input can work with TAS precision with a 1 frame smash attack back, neutral control stick, then back once again on the control stick to turnaround.While LTC requires lag compensation for the correct landing timing, STC is an isolated input so it requires no input changes online.
Landing Turnaround Cancels - SSBU Banjo Tech Tutorial RoboRotembo 2020-06-19 | Tutorial video to help with the execution of landing turnaround cancels. Turnaround cancels are a recently discovered tech, allowing Banjo to cancel the endlag of a Breegull Blaster shot with a turnaround by taking advantage of certain states where turnarounds are available despite normally being locked. For landing turnaround cancels, we take advantage of the 16 frames of landing lag in which Banjo is not allowed to jump again after landing, but for some reason can turnaround with a specific input. I'll be following this video up with a tutorial on Standing/smash turnaround cancels sometime next week.

Turnaround Cancel Quick Storage - SSBU RoboRotembo 2020-06-15 | Quick tutorial I made with some early findings on a new tech. It seems a bit like a glitch or oversight so it could possibly be patched at some point. I didn't find this.By shooting the blaster before or soon after landing, you're not locked out of turnaround. You can start a turnaround to cancel endlag, then cancel it with a shot, which you also cancel with the shield button on the same frame to quick store. With the grab button being shield + attack, using grab can store the blaster with one press after the turnaround. Using this you can combo into WW, FSmash, or simply cover your storage. You can also jump to cancel the turnaround and have a lot more freedom as to what you do next.
Banjos Unique Ledge Jump - SSBU RoboRotembo 2020-06-12 | A short video looking at a unique property of Banjo's DJ on ledge. Banjo has very good ledge options and this in conjunction with Blaster and grenade egg off ledge can make for some very aggressive responses to attempted ledge traps.
Split Up Skip as BK RoboRotembo 2020-05-13 | Recorded on PJ64 so there may be timing differences for console. The inputs shown are also added in post, so there may be more slight timing inconsistencies there.Making the jump to the alcove below requires a glitch that locks the clockwork in the jumping animation with slower falling speed after passing over a ledge (without landing on it) at the end of a full jump. The camera has issues while OoB on the ledge, so this is the most consistent, fast setup I could find to activate this glitch and make the jump.The camera may also not clip through the wall when falling, but when this happens you don't have to adjust the stick much from Up-Left. Just as long as you activate the slow fall glitch and hold mostly towards the alcove you should make it.
