I tried to play similar parts in the neck, bridge and middle positions so you can get a feel for how the pickups sound. I also tried to vary the volume and tone so you can hear it clean, dirty and all shades in between.

I'm going to use the same setup for all the videos and play basically the same thing so that it's easier to compare and contrast different guitars.
First up is this all original 1976 Firebird '76 in Polaris White. Also known as the Bicentennial model, these '76s have made their name in Rock history, perhaps most famously by Tom Petty and Mike Campbell.
The pickups in these 70s Firebirds are usually different from the pickups in originals from the 60s. As with all things Gibson, it's hard to make generalizations, and I'm not opening these ones up to examine how the bobbins are wound lol.
I'm playing the guitar straight into a Marshall Astoria Custom, recording the output through a UA OX that's adding a touch of reverb. I've got the amp cranked and am using the volume and tone controls to get the different tones you hear.
Thanks for watching!2019 Fender Jimmy Page Mirror Telecaster Reviewmrfett2019-05-16 | First video in the new studio! Sorry for the long absence, I wanted to wait until I had some new camera/lighting gear but screw it let's play guitar!
This is my video review of a new 2019 Fender Jimmy Page Mirror Telecaster. I'm going straight into a Marshall Astoria Custom. On the floor I have a Tonebender MKII clone (Phoenix Custom Electronics' Little Red Rocket) that I turn on at the end. I'm recording through a Universal Audio Ox, there's a little reverb on the signal.Gibson 50th Anniversary 1968 Les Paul Custom Demomrfett2018-08-05 | In this demo I run through some tones from one of Gibson Custom Shop's new 2018 50th Anniversary 1968 Les Paul Customs.
These models have Gibson's 68 Custom Humbuckers in both positions, a maple cap, ebony fretboard and the shallower 14 degree headstock pitch that came on Les Pauls when they returned in the late 60s.
I'm playing directly into a Universal Audio Apollo Twin MKII running their Marshall Super Plexi Lead 1959 plugin. No other effects.

Video (not audio) was captured on my phone and I ran out of space lol so it's the same recycled short clip. Audio is pretty good though, playing a Gibson Les Paul through a Vox AC30. Enjoy!
The Mu-Tron (only 1,000 made) can do a wide range of effects by controlling the sweep start/stop, but since the Electric Mistress can't replicate all those sounds I just stuck to settings both pedals were capable of replicating.

More info: http://www.rickenbacker.com/model.asp?model=381V69Testing My New Looping Setupmrfett2017-09-06 | I'm pretty excited about this setup, as I've been perfecting it for some time. In the past I've tried getting a guitar and bass part looped and synced but I've had trouble, especially when throwing in drums.
What I've done is use a master clock device (Molten Voltage Master Control MV-58) to send clock to the drum machine (a Roland CR-78 with a CHD CR78-PGM attached to it so it can receive MIDI), the pedalboard (so I can sync delays and other effects) and a Ditto Looper X4. The Ditto, which is stereo, has the bass plugged into one input and that output goes to the bass amp. The guitar's pedalboard goes into the other channel and that goes to the guitar amp.
As I sketch ideas for my next record I'm psyched to be able to try things out live like this and have everything stay locked in. This video demonstrates the first time I fired it all up; I had just finished connecting all the pieces.
The music is just me screwing around with a germ of an idea, and I kinda dig where it's going :-)

I paired it with the M4L, a small midi-controlled looper from G-Lab that adds an additional 4 loops I can control from the ES-8.
Once setup I had to decide how to organize the ES-8 patches in order to allow me to create sounds using the loops of the M4L (which comes before the ES-8). This video explains how I set it up, but if anyone has a better system for achieving this functionality I'd love to hear your tips!

These guitars have the same Moog-designed circuitry in them that the RD Artist guitars had. Gibson also made a Les Paul and ES-335 with the same components.
I go through all the positions and have labeled what switches I'm flicking with graphics in the video.
The CMT in the name stands for "Curly Maple Top", which is 1 piece! It has a TP-6 fine-tune tailpiece standard, and individual mini-tuners. The pickups are called Series VI pickups, and the finish is Antique Sunburst which seems to be the most common color for these. Slightly more rare are the Cherry Sunburst ones; I've heard rumors that there were a few in Natural made but I've never seen convincing evidence of their existence. Overall there were supposedly less than 250 of these altogether, although that number is hard to confirm. They are definitely rare, and few come up for sale (I've never seen another in this pristine condition).
I switch channels on the amp at one point for a touch more gain. There is a little bit of reverb in the effects loop. The amp is a Dirty Girl Heavy Hindenburg, miked with a Sennheiser e906 going into a Scarlett interface.Just Like They Did To Quadaffimrfett2017-01-18 | Original music from DB94 inspired by the events of the 2016 Election and Vladimir Putin's role in it.
The sounds on this track come from a Polivoks Reissue, my guitar and my voice. The carrier for the vocoder was the Polivoks.
Dedicated to Alexander Litvinenko, Anna Politkovskaya, Sergei Magnitsky, Natalia Estemirova, Stanislav Markelo, Anastasia Baburova, Paul Klebnikov, Sergei Yushenkov and Boris Berezovsky.

Gibson made 6 different transparent colors, 200 of each, one color each month for six months from July to December of 1990:
July: Transparent Red Custom August: Transparent Amber Standard September: Transparent Blue Standard October: Transparent Mocha Standard November: Transparent Fuchsia Standard December: Transparent White Custom
The guitar is in great condition, completely stock with it's original hardshell case. It has a 490R pickup in the neck that reads 8.07 and a 498T in the bridge that reads 13.12. It has all the same specifications as other early 90s Customs: maple cap, mahogany body, 1 piece mahogany neck, ebony fretboard, modern weight relief and keystone button tuners. One feature that sets it apart from many others is it's weight; it's only 9 lbs 13.3 oz, which is a great weight for an older Custom as they typically weigh over 10lbs.
I'm playing through a Dirty Girl Heavy Hindenburg which is a Supro 1624T clone. I switch channels between a clean-ish and dirty channel. I turn on a Mu-Fx Booston 3 for distortion. There is a Lexicon Hall reverb in the amp's effects loop.Polivoks Reissue Demomrfett2017-01-13 | Making some noise with a Polivoks Reissue synthesizer. It's running through a Mu-Tron Bi-Phase.
I'm only hitting 1 or 2 notes on an attached MIDI keyboard, as what I'm really playing are the Polivoks' 2 envelopes.

I decided to do this walkthrough of one of my pedalboards to explain how and why I set it up the way I did, and to highlight a few tricks and special pedals I’ve found to get some cool tones. Since many of the pedals are pretty rare I’ve gone in-depth on some of their functionality. For some (like the Randy’s Revenge and RV-6) there are already lots of cool demos you can check out to learn more about them, so I didn’t really delve in too deeply.
This video pretty prominently features my Dirty Girl Heavy Hindenburg, a handmade Supro 1624T clone. I’m recording it with a Sennheiser e906 going into a Scarlett, recorded with Logic Pro. I’ve also left in some of the camera mic for the guitar sounds.mrfetts 1981 Gibson Les Paul Custom Silverburst Reviewmrfett2016-11-30 | My review of a 1981 Gibson Les Paul Custom in the Silverburst finish. These guitars (Silverburst Customs) weren't greeted by much enthusiasm when they first came out in 1978 but several 90s guitarists (James Iha, Chris Cornell, Adam Jones) discovered them and today they're among the most sought after Les Paul Custom colors. Over time the Silver in them yellows a bit (well the clear coat over it) and they take on a different hue, which is why the old ones look quite a bit different from the new ones Gibson are making today.
This '81 model has a solid mahogany body, a 3 piece maple top, a 3 piece maple neck and an ebony fretboard. For electronics it has 2 Tim Shaw PAF pickups, 300k volume pots and 100k tone pots. For hardware it has a nashville style bridge and Schaller tuners. Early 80s Customs like this one came with low frets, yet somehow bending remains easy and fluid. It weighs a svelte 10.57 lbs.
I'm plugged into a Dirty Girl Heavy Hindenburg, which is a handmade reproduction of the Supro 1624T (thought to be the amp Page used for Zeppelin I). The speaker is a vintage re-coned Rola. I'm controlling it with a Loop-Master ABY pedal which lets me switch or combine the channels. For the lead part I turn on a Moog Minifooger Boost pedal.
I'm recording with the Sennheiser into a Scarlett into Logic Pro. I'm running the amp through a Fryette Power Station to tame the volume.Jag Ringmrfett2016-09-30 | Made a new board out of some extra pedals I had laying around... getting some pretty cool sounds!

They came stock in models such as Les Paul Standards, Les Paul Customs, SGs and ES-335s. There are even reports of them being found stock in "Orville by Gibson" guitars.
The guitar is running through a small pedalboard with only a TC HoF Mini turned on, going into a Marshall JTM-1C with a 10" Celestion Gold miked with a Sennheiser e906.Vintage 1977 MXR Envelope Filter Demomrfett2016-08-25 | Playing with an old MXR Envelope Filter from 1977. In the video I tried to showcase a bit of the gear used in the song. The verse & chorus were played on that '93 Rickenbacker 381V69 (so the toaster pickups are a little hotter than the ones currently shipping), and the bridge was played on a Rickenbacker 370/12 (rhythm) and Gibson '56 Reissue Les Paul (lead).
I miked up both the Vibrolux and Concord amps for all the parts except the rhythm bridge part, which went through the little Vox and only had the SM57 on it. The other two amps each had two mics on them, for a total of four tracks of guitar. One amp was running with delay, and the other without. To avoid phasing/bleed issues and having to move the amps around in my small studio, I used a Ditto X2 Looper to record what I was playing in stereo so that I could track one amp at a time.
The 381V69 had the DMMTT on it and the R6 had the Catalinbread Echorec. The 370/12 went through a Korg SDD-3000 (before hitting the Vox AC4HW1).Run Your Racemrfett2016-04-17 | Short original song for a friend.

Camera audio.Maestro Rhythm N Sound For Guitar G2 - Part 3/3 (Echo Repeat & Wow Wow)mrfett2016-01-16 | This is Part 3 of a little series of videos I'm doing on the "Maestro Rhythm 'N Sound For Guitar". It's an old all-in-one effects box designed by Tom Oberheim back in the day. It has some pretty nutty features that are of little practical value, but also some really cool sounding effects that can be quite useful. There are some other good overviews of the unit on YouTube so I figured I'd just do a few demos where I put it in a musical context. These are sought after and pricey because artists as diverse as Jimi Hendrix and Adrock are known to be fond of them. This video finds me laying down a short loop using the "Echo Repeat" effect and then switching to the "Wow Wow" sound for some soloing. I'm looping with a Ditto X2.
The signal chain on this one is pretty intense... I think I start with: Whammy - Klone V2 - Maestro Rhythm 'N Sound - Echorec. For the soloing I switch to: Fuzzy Lade Ge - Klone V2 - Maestro Rhythm 'N Sound - Whiteface RAT - DMMTT 1100.

It's an old all-in-one effects box designed by Tom Oberheim back in the day. It has some pretty nutty features that are honestly of little practical value, as well as some cool sounding effects. There are some other good overviews of the unit on YouTube so I figured I'd just do a few demos where I put it in a musical context. These are sought after and pricey because artists as diverse as Jimi Hendrix and Adrock are known to be fond of them. If Adcock could make these drums sound decent he truly is a genius lol (no disrespect meant, obviously Adrock's genius is well established)... so anyway here I use the "Bongo" sound and then layer the "String Bass" sound on top of it. I'm looping with a Ditto X2.
I've got a Pigtronix compressor on the whole time. I use an Eventide H9 to process the drums (I think a Resonator patch) and then to process the bass (Compressor patch). I turn off the H9 and turn on a Catalinbread Echorec for the guitar parts. I'm using the out-of-phase position on the Teye Gypsy Arrow.
Sorry for the poor vocal and sloppy guitar (still getting used to all those inlays lol). No time for endless takes, it's just for shits & giggles :-)

These 6-stage phasers are coveted for their ability to run two photo cell phasers in series, parallel and stereo. They're known to sit atop many a Rhodes, but are also phenomenal on guitars and synths (especially cool to make a mono monophonic synth like a Minimoog into a stereo beast) or put on a mixing console's Aux send.
