Anyone who might be traveling to Paris before July 6th, 2025 - there is a mind blowing exhibit on gold thread at the museum next to the Eifel Tower (Musee du Quai Branly Jacques Chirac). It is the largest exhibit on embroidery (9000 sq meters which is 96,000 sq feet) I have ever seen and took me no less than 4 hours to see. It is four exhbits in one - on materials and techniques, a retrospective of the Chinese fashion designer Guo Pei with her extensive use of Chinese gold embroidery, and gold thread embroidered garments from the far east to Africa through many historic periods.
