21 BEST FREE CAMPSITES MAP: drivinvibin.com/free-map
The Camco Water Bandit is one of the handiest RVing accessories you can buy. There are few things more annoying than trying to screw a hose onto a water spigot that’s dirty or has broken or missing threads.
That’s why we love the RV Water Bandit so much — it eliminates headaches from broken spigots and helps stop leaking hose connections.
Let’s take a closer look at what makes it so helpful.

5 Ways Around the RV 10 Year Rule
Today, there are more RV’s on the road than ever before.
Better access to the internet has made it easier to travel, especially for remote workers.
Because of the influx of new travelers, the diversity of RV’s on the road is much broader. The range can vary from vintage RVs to brand new rigs, and everything in between.
Because of this diversity, some RV campgrounds have enforced a 10-year rule making it harder for certain RV’s to visit their parks. While this rule is well intentioned, it can cause a lot of headaches on the road… so here are 5 ways around it!

The New RV Reservation Rule You Better Know
Today, we’re looking at a new RV reservation rule you’ll want to follow if you plan to camp anytime soon.
With so many jumping on the bandwagon and buying RVs in recent years, it should come as no surprise that it’s becoming difficult to find a campsite.
Many campgrounds love that their sites are in such high demand. However, this is leaving quite a few unhappy campers that can’t seem to make a reservation.

WASHINGTON — National Park Service special agents with the Investigative Services Branch are working to identify potential female victims of surreptitious recordings taken in bathroom facilities in the backcountry of Grand Canyon National Park.
In September 2020, park visitors at Phantom Ranch reported that they believed a maintenance worker had recorded them while using a toilet. The individual was subsequently fired and removed from the park.
For the past year, agents have been working to identify the scope of the suspect’s activity. At this time, there is no indication that these images were shared or distributed by the suspect. This remains an active and open criminal matter. At the same time, the Department is conducting an internal review.
If you or someone you know used the toilets at Indian Garden along the Bright Angel Trail, on the north side of Phantom Ranch, or at the Bright Angel Campground, between November 2018 and September 2020, you are encouraged to reach out to investigators by calling (928) 318-8770 or by filling out a secure and confidential online form on the FBI's NPS webpage to determine if you may be a victim. Victims may be eligible for certain services and rights under federal and/or state law.
NPS is dedicated to ensuring every victim of or witness to a crime that occurs in a national park is treated with dignity and respect, that they are informed of their legal rights, and provided with the support and services to which they are entitled. To support the victims of these incidents, NPS has partnered with the FBI Victim Services Division to connect victims with available services.

How are we going to kick off 2022? With another boondocking site closing, obviously.
This time it’s a state park replacing it. And, in our opinion, it seems like a money grab from the state.
Let’s get into it.
What Boondocking Site Will Close?
The popular boondocking site on the chopping block is Willow Springs Trail in Moab, Utah.
The exact location of this site is 38.6968, -109.6981.
It bears stating that this site isn’t closing due to land abuse (at least not directly). Instead, Utah passed a bill that will designate it a State Park. The current plan for the park is to create two established, paid campgrounds.
Here’s why it sounds like a money grab.
Moab is very protective of commercial development. Meaning it’s pretty challenging for new RV parks and campgrounds to be built.
As recently as October, the Moab Planning Commission denied a new RV campground construction.
However, the state quickly passes a bill to create a two-campground state park in the same area.
Sounds fishy, huh?

There are over 4,700 Walmarts in the United States, and many stores provide a much needed break from the road for travel-weary RVers. In fact, on long travel days, it’s our got-to spot to catch zzz’s.
Keep in mind, however, Walmart overnight parking is only allowed at more than half of those stores.
But, 2,300 is still a lot!

Are National Parks Home to Feral People?
Lately, the Internet is ablaze over the topic of feral people in national parks. Visitors and enthusiasts have chimed in with stories and ideas of these so-called wild and cannibalistic people.
Conspiracy theorists have also taken to the Internet to perpetuate these stories. Indeed, they make efforts to tie them in with missing person cold-cases from national parks around the country.
Is there any truth to the claims? And where did it all start, anyway?

5 Reasons RV Parks Will Deny Your Reservation
It’s finally summer and time to hit the road in your RV or camper trailer. Before you get too excited, realize that RV parks may deny you and your RV.
It’s true. There are multiple reasons, even if you have a reservation, that an RV park may deny you upon arrival.
Let’s talk about the five most common reasons and how to prevent unexpected denial before this happens to you.

National Park Campsite is Trashed with 150 LBS of Rubbish
It’s a story we’ve heard time and again recently, but this one hits different.
Every trashed campsite we’ve reported in 2021 has been on public land, but not inside an actual National Park with an entire ranger staff.
Here’s the scoop.

5 Reasons to Avoid Vintage Campers
Scroll through Instagram long enough, and you’re likely to find beautifully redone vintage campers. They sure can lure you in with their charm and photogenic appeal.
But before you start dreaming of buying your own low-priced fixer-upper, take a look at the realities of renovating a vintage camper.
What Is a Vintage Camper?
There’s a bit of a debate about what qualifies a camper to receive the title “vintage.” It can be a hot topic amongst those that consider themselves vintage camper enthusiasts.
The consensus is that a trailer must be between 20 and 100 years old to be vintage. That’s really the only requirement. You might picture a quaint camper from the 60s with bright colors and a retro-style refrigerator.
But a camper from the 90s is also considered vintage at this point.
5 Signs You’re RVing Too Much
You visit your in-laws for the holidays and reach down to flush the toilet with your foot. You ask them if it’s okay to run the hair dryer while the coffee maker is going.
You put a bucket in the sink to catch the water while you wash your hands.
Are you crazy?
No, these are just signs that you may be RVing too much.

Some RVs have so many comforts that you’re tempted to call them a home away from home. Many manufacturers are taking that idea to the extreme.
Can you really call it camping if your trailer has two extra bedrooms upstairs and a kitchen that would suit a chef? That’s what you get with the Salem Grand Villa travel trailers.

WMA Imposes Boondocking Ban in Utah
We’ve seen a few boondocking bans this year, and the latest in free camping closures comes from Utah at the Middle Fork WMA.
Just like most boondocking bans that we’ve seen, the reasons for these bans follow a similar trend of outright disrespect for the land and management agencies.
Let’s dive in to what prompted this recent boondocking ban.
What and Where Is the Middle Fork WMA?
Middle Fork WMA is a wildlife management area located in Weber County in northern Utah.
This free campground is located just east of Ogden near the Pineview reservoir.
The Middle Fork WMA campground has decent reviews online, but they all follow a common theme… and that’s exactly why boondocking in this area has now been banned.

These smaller trucks are also known as midsize trucks, and many of them have plenty of power under the hood. In fact, some of today’s compact trucks can tow more than 7,000 lbs.
This is good news for RVers. It means you don’t need a monster of a truck to tow a travel trailer.
What is a Small Truck?
The term “small truck” is a relative one used to describe the smallest trucks on the market. These days, there are two basic sizes of trucks, full-size and mid-size, and compact is another term for a mid-size truck.
That wasn’t always the case, however. Originally, compact trucks were a lot smaller than other kinds of trucks. They came along in the 1970s when there was a demand for small vehicles with better gas mileage.
They are not as big or powerful as full-size trucks, but they have a few advantages. For instance, they handle easily, get good mileage and can fit into tight spaces.

The BLM is closing more public lands to camping again, and this time it’s happening near Reno, Nevada.
Large, permanent encampments set up on wide swaths of BLM land outside of Reno have prompted the local BLM agencies to indefinitely close these lands to camping as the rangers struggle to keep up. Let’s learn more:
BLM Closing Sections of Public Land in Nevada Indefinitely
Starting April 1, 2021, the Bureau of Land Management in Nevada is closing some public land areas in Washoe and Lyon counties to camping for an indefinite period of time.
The closures affect large areas of BLM land near Golden and Sun Valleys, an area near Mound House off of Highway 50.
While these areas are being closed to camping, they are still open for public day use for hiking and other outdoor recreation.
Carson City BLM District Manager, Ken Collum, says these areas are seeing an uptick of people living in unofficial camps for extended periods of time. These permanent camps not only negatively impact the land, but other public land users.

If you’re towing a travel trailer, you’ve got to have the right vehicle for the job. Many RVers go with a full-size truck or SUV, but there are some smaller crossover SUVs that are up to the task, as well.
Driving a crossover SUV instead of a truck has its advantages. They are built on a car platform, so they handle better, ride more smoothly, and can get you into some tighter spaces. They’re better on gas mileage, too.
But how do they measure up otherwise? Are they rugged enough for off-road use and tough enough for towing? We’re going to take an in-depth look at the 5 best crossover SUVs for towing camper trailers – what to look for and what to avoid.

Boondocking. Going off-grid. Getting back to nature. Whatever you want to call it, this type of camping connects us directly to the great outdoors.
Whether it’s the desert lands of Arizona or the high mountains of Colorado, the beauty of nature calls us.
But once our RV grey tank fills up, is it okay to dump on the ground?
To many, the answer isn’t obvious.

For many people who are looking to hit the road, a travel trailer is a great option. They’re practical and affordable.
Finding the one that’s right for you means doing a little research to find out which manufacturers are the best.
Some of the best brands of travel trailers have a strong following because they’ve maintained a great reputation for consistently building a quality product. Other brands are known for providing continued service after the sale.
Sadly, we’ve heard of more than a few cases when a company’s concern for their customer seems to run out when the short-term warranty does.
