Doki Doki Literature Club - Okay, Everyone (Piano/Synthesia)
updated
Recently, I went to Japan for a few weeks and we stumbled upon a public piano in Osaka. I decided to play One Summers Day by Joe Hisaishi. It was pretty fun! There's some melody playing in the background that's coming from a shop, I believe, but it gets better later in the video.

"THIS STORY IS A WARNING. YOU COULD BE NEXT."
Amy receives an invitation to a group chat set up by some of her former classmates. Its purpose is to reconnect after all these years. But soon more and more disturbing facts about Amy's classmates are revealed, and Amy begins to fear that the people she's texting with may not be what they seem.
Class Reunion Chat Room immerses you into Amy's role by letting you type her predefined chat messages. What you're supposed to type is visible in gray letters. What you are currently typing will be overlaid in black letters. If you've typed everything correctly, then your black text should overlay the gray text perfectly. Press "Enter" or klick the send button on the right hand side of the text box to send your message. If you're unable to send your message then you haven't typed the message correctly. Make sure not to forget any easy to miss dots and commas.
This visual novel has a playtime of about 20–30 minutes.

This is the soundtrack for the horror manga inspired game Mycorrhiza, which was recently released!
Rendering this video took over 20 hours. That's what I get for cheaping out on the graphics card.
It's been a while since my last audio visualization video. I've mainly been using After Effects for creating cutscenes for Mycorrhiza lately. Nice to come back to my After Effects roots for once.
As you might or might not know, Mycorrhiza's soundtrack makes use of dynamic audio techniques, meaning that one track can have different variations depending on what's currently happening in-game or depending on random chance. As such some tracks are turned out rather long (especially Increasing Insanity with over 12 minutes). Either way, I hope you enjoy the soundtrack and make sure to check out the game if you haven't yet!
What's your favorite track?

Welcome to a world of distorted minds.
Mycorrhiza is a love letter to horror manga in the form of a visual novel. Some of our biggest inspirations include the works of Junji Ito and Masaaki Nakayama.
While the protagonist is trying to find a way back home, reality distorts and people’s morals start shifting in cruel and unexpected ways. A strange plant transforming animals, a strange comedy trend and a strange building trapping people. Each of the three arcs explores different terrors.
The game features a manga aesthetic (with CGs drawn by a manga artist), as well as a focus on dynamic audio.
Join us on our adventure into despair.

I really felt like working on another song using the vocal synthesizer Neutrino. Coupled with discovering Cepheid's tracks "Goddess" (youtube.com/watch?v=TJrkufAAi5c) and "Gaia" (youtube.com/watch?v=SZvrKO763Mc) led me to creating "Blaze". Seven's voice was a great fit, especially with a lower formant count, which made her voice lower. I ended up also coupling her with Kiritan to add a brighter edge and more fullness to the vocals.
I felt like battle footage from fate would fit the mix of epic and action with a hint of divine, which is why I made somewhat of an AMV out of it. The movements ended up fitting to most of the music pretty well, I only had to change the speed of some parts. Unfortunately I was (unsurprisingly) having troubles getting YouTube to let my video through, which is why I had to apply quite a few effects. I guess a possibly positive side effect is that I don't end up spoiling people who haven't seen Heaven's Feel yet. You can watch a version of the video without the effects on my Twitter:

Huge thanks to uncreepy for writing the lyrics, they were a joy to work with! They did an awesome job intensifying the song's atmosphere!

Feel free to check out my last Neutrino song called "Kimi ga". It's more upbeat compared to this one and shows a different side of what's possible with Neutrino.

舞う黒煙を水鏡に
Mau kokuen o mizu-kagami ni
Dancing black smoke in a mirror of water
灰が降る町赤く燃えて
Hai ga furu machi akaku moete
The town raining ash burns red
返り血浴びたまま目の前
Kaeri-chi abita mama me no mae
And while bathed in blood before my eyes
残骸の山しか見えない
Zangai no yama shika mienai
All I can see is a mountain of wreckage
もう何も恐れないよ
Mou osorenai yo
I no longer fear anything
今戦おう
Ima tatakaou
Now I will fight
聖なる光に呑まれても
Sei-naru hikari ni nomarete mo
Even if I am swallowed up by holy light

I've always wanted to work with metal vocalists and I'm glad that that wish finally came true. Andrés Arcentales (growling/screaming) and Tasos Lazaris (singing) really did a great job!

(Ignore the project title at the top btw, I just needed a wip name until I knew what to name it ^^).
I'm really glad that I got to work with Yin on this one, her voice was perfect for the feeling that I wanted to convey with the piece!

This track is a battle track that I made to see how the orchestral and chiptune style would work for a more hectic piece. Since it has a slower middle part I feel like it might work well as a boss theme, rather than the standard battle theme. I'm really happy about that chiptune counterpoint section at 1:31. Seems like the counterpoint classes at university were worth it.

This track is a test track that I made to determine the overall audio direction for Argo and that I've also been using a lot in showcase videos. The big focus is the combination of orchestral sounds and chiptune. Many of the melodies and motives from it will also be adapted for Argo's soundtrack.

I actually got addicted to this song even before watching the anime. The jazzy feeling just pulled me in. It's also a great study piece if you want to learn more about modulation and intermediary dominants ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Huge shoutout and thanks to my two buds, one of which gifted me the melodica and requested this piece and the other one who volunteered to clap for me (his video is the middle one during the clap section)!

Make sure to credit us in the description/credits (Composition: Tim Reichert, Lyrics: Kuseki) and link back to this video if you use any of it.
The use of the synthesized singing is also in accordance with their respective licenses, so you can use them in non-commercial projects as well (see [you can use an image translator if you don't know Japanese]: zunko.jp/guideline.html).
Huge thanks to Kuseki for providing the lyrics! Note that neither me, nor Kuseki are native Japanese speakers, so be gentle ;_;
At the beginning of this year someone made me aware of a new voice synthesizer named "Neutrino" (https://n3utrino.work/). I was blown away by how realistic it sounded and definitely wanted to give it a go myself but didn't have any time... until now!
Inspired by Xleezy's cover of "藍二乗" by ヨルシカ (youtube.com/watch?v=wTXMBZo1mIA) I set out to make a steretypical J-Rock-ish song (with lots of stereotypes), which is also something that I wanted to do forever ago but hadn't had the time yet. And so here we are! Watching cover made by really good instrumentalists, like the ones by Xleezy and 8bitdrummer have actually helped me quite a lot to get a better grasp of the instruments, can recommend.
I originally made kind of nonsensical lyrics using a lyrics generator (http://jpop.mbtl.net), but fortunately Kuseki came to the rescue and made the lyrics way more viable. Check Kuseki out, they make really good music!

I invested too much time into this to not share this.
Again, to be clear: I'm not trying to discredit these artists, they've put a lot of work into the instrumentals and made really awesome tracks! And as long as you give a piece its own individual flavor, like they did, using loops doesn't have to inherently be bad. But the usage of loops that are so prominent within the track can still lead to negative views concerning individuality and creativity.

Lucid Suite by VolTRH: youtube.com/watch?v=f4D90YXPO9c
Cover Art by: twitter.com/juneflowa
This was actually made almost a month ago but I didn't have time to make a video until now. But better late than never! I'm a huge Yume Nikki fan, as some of you might know, so making something like this one day was inevitable. And Lucid Suite has been one of my favorite Yume Nikki arrangements since forever. I've been thinking of what other personal Yume Nikki merch-y things I could make, so I might make a similar video sometime in the future once I get around to making more!
This was also my first time trying out info cards. I might have gone a bit overboard with them, though.
But for now I'm back to work. Work never ends if you're a musician ;_;

I've been feeling oddly nostalgic for this game lately. I'm a sucker for PS2 horror games in general and watched Cryaotic's playthrough of Rule of Rose way back and loved it. Mainly because I didn't have to deal with the frustrating gameplay since I was watching a Let's Play and could enjoy the story and music as is. And speaking of the music: It's amazing. Before hearing it I thought that horror games inevitably needed ambient pads and electronically made distortion/editing. But here we have a game that uses solo strings and a piano to create the creepy atmosphere and haunting spoopiness. This game definitely opened up the door for other kinds of horror audio direction.
Was playing around with how to visually arrange the Synthesia and piano recording. Decided on this form, since the old one isn't really that easy to achieve anymore because I don't have my mic stand where I usually record anymore. I used to just tape my phone to the mic stand, but the wall will have to do for now.
"Little princess, little princess, precious little princess. The little girl was as beautiful as a princess. But she was always alone. The girl found her grave. Today is the day of her funeral... And everyone lived happily ever after..."

We held a Christmas challenge at our m00sic Discord server and this is the piece that I made for it! We had people on social media suggest rules, then we voted on the rules that we wanted to pick and then then we had to make a piece based on these rules with the deadline being Christmas.
The final rules were the following:
- Ok Boomer sample
- Voice sample of yourself saying "Merry Christmas"
- Needs to be 🔥
- Shiny Pokémon Reaction samples (I sampled my favorite Pokétuber Tyranitartube)
I (for some reason) decided to turn it into an Artcore track. Of course with sleight bells to get that Christmas spirit going. It's a bit lacking on electronic music elements to be a true Artcore track (for my tastes), but I've learned quite a bit about producing the genre in the process.
Thanks to Alfred for suggesting the name! I'm terrible at naming my pieces, so I'm glad I had someone at the stream who was better at it than me ^^

For me.
Been an awful good girl, Santa baby,
So hurry down the chimney tonight.
Santa baby, a 54 convertible too,
Light blue.
I'll wait up for you dear, Santa baby,
So hurry down the chimney tonight.
Think of all the fun I've missed,
Think of all the fellas that I haven't kissed.
Next year I could be just as good,
If you'll check off my Christmas list.
Santa baby, I want a yacht, and really that's not
A lot.
Been an angel all year,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.
Santa honey, one little thing I really need,
The deed
To a platinum mine,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.
Santa cutie, and fill my stocking with a duplex,
And checks.
Sign your 'X' on the line,
Santa cutie, and hurry down the chimney tonight.
Come and trim my Christmas tree,
With some decorations bought at Tiffany's.
I really do believe in you,
Let's see if you believe in me.
Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing,
A ring.
I don't mean on the phone,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight.
Hurry down the chimney tonight.
Hurry, tonight.
As you might already know: My schedule has been quite full, mainly with university things, but also with commission, which is why I'm doing so many streams as opposed to regular videos (and the occasional mini piano cover, such as this one). They don't take as long as making full videos and usually feature something that I have to practice for university anyhow. But I'm hoping to get back on track after I'm done with all of the papers in April!
