With After Effects, using either Duik or Joysticks n' Sliders, we can create a controller which easily allows us to animate the pupils. Once you have a skeleton in place, Duik allows for auto-rigging and easy layer attachment. This will allow you to connect your artwork to bones to start the process of rigging. Some refinements may be needed after attaching layers to the bones.
Creating bone structures in Duik is easy with all the built in templates. Here we will use the Hominoid template to set things up for rigging and animation.
When working with 3D models, like when in Moho, it's best to use textures that don't break, allowing for a seamless look. In this video I quickly demonstrate how you can set up a symmetry based texture using Procreate on the iPad Pro. You don't' need Procreate to do this. Many apps, including Photoshop, allow for this functionality.

Target bones are used to anchor down areas of the rig, such as the feet. This can create a more grounded look, allowing to bend knees without the feet moving. You can tie targets anywhere you want with this anchor-like functionality.

Dragger handles, coupled with the Dragger behavior, allow us to drag and move any part of the rig we choose. But like pins, layer independence plays a big role in dragger functionality.
Starting with the base masked mouth, we can toggle on Interpolated Sub-Layers for automatic animation between posed. Just be sure to refrain from adding or removing points between poses.
The character in this lesson is made up of images. So to apply dynamic bone movements, we will need to take advantage of Smart Warp meshes for binding.
When working with 3D Layers, enabling Depth Sort is recommended for a few reasons. This lecture details those reasons as well as shows how to make the conversion.
