Hello Sports Fans, Unfortunately my head gasket on my 2004 M13A non VVT Suzuki Jimny Engine gave up on me. I could have just repaired this, but why not upgrade! It’s something I have always wanted to do as my Jimny is so heavy and lacking so much power. So I managed to find a Suzuki Liana non VVT with a M16A engine I could swap. As I explain in this video, I am not a mechanic, I am a complete novice and have never undertaken a big job like this. So I was understandably very nervous.
I did my research online and found a lot of conflicting details on the swap and not really many good videos, In fact I actually ordered the wrong engine on eBay not realising mine was a non VVT! I ordered a M15A VVT from a Swift, but fortunately the seller was nice enough to let me cancel the order when I realise my mistake. After more research I did learn how to make this fit but I decided to go ahead and buy a whole vehicle so I could give the engine a proper road test before buying. Oh and yes, I scraped the Liana after poaching everything that could be of use from it.
There is so much to talk about doing this conversion that I couldn’t possibly fit it all in. I’m not the best at explaining things as a dyslexic person, but I’ve tried to set this video out from a complete novices point of view.
