On a beautiful spring Saturday afternoon, we saw an advertisement for steam-powered excursion trains along the Delaware River, and we were not disappointed. The Susquehanna 2-8-2 Chinese-built Mikado has been back in service since October of 2025 after many years of painstaking restoration work.
The “Bel-Del” has also began running trains as far south at Riegelsville station, which is just north of Milford, NJ along the Delaware River. The station however is named after the larger town across the river in the Keystone State of Pennsylvania. This is the former Pennsylvania Railroad’s line to Trenton, NJ.
Join us as we take a ride with behind the 142, in both directions from Riegelsville to Phillipsburg and return. We will also see the train from trackside a few times.
