Following is my vlog experience of going through what some are calling a Super Typhoon. At the time of writing 'Super Typhoon Trami' has been downsized to a Cat 3 Typhoon. Still packing wind speeds of up to 120mph gusts this is no easy beast.
I'm posting this first video which shown calm seas and slightly moving trees and vegetation on the Thursday evening of September 27th, 2018. By tomorrow the nature of the approaching storm will start to be seen, and felt. We are currently at TCCOR Level 2. This means that sustained winds of 50mph are expected within 24hrs.
We are expected to hit TCCOR 1 by 9pm Friday night and then TCCOR 1E (Emergency) by Saturday morning which translates to winds in excess of 50knots with gusts elevated way beyond that.
There are warnings of wave height to exceed 11m in the majority of coastal regions with some totally exposed southern facing reefs expected to be around 12.5m. Open Ocean swells are predicted to be up to 16m in height.
Precipitation will be massive on Saturday with some 33cm forecast on an almost hourly basis throughout Saturday. All residents of lower laying areas are urged to fill their tanks with gas and find elevated parking areas if possible within walking distance from their places of residence.
The second part of this video will be reflecting my experiences during the storm. We live in an apartment a few hundred meters from the beach in a low lying area that is prone to flooding. Our saving grace is that we're on the third floor of five within our apartment complex.
I wonder how high the water will come.
