Once I was finished sewing I:1️⃣ Finger pressed the seams open and followed up with my iron.2️⃣ Flipped it right side up and steam-pressed it flat.3️⃣ BONUS: If you have a second wool pressing mat, put that on top and let your seams cool between the mats. How To Stop Fabric Fraying Suzy Quilts 2023-08-23 | When piecing a quilt you can stop fray-prone fabrics from unraveling with one simple trick—make your stitch length smaller. That’s it!I love mixing and matching fabric substrates. In this next #AdventurelandQuilt I’m using chambray, quilting cotton, a cotton/linen blend, 100% linen, a loose woven cotton AND flannel! Oh, and some lawn for the backing. Yikes! That’s a lot of different weaves and textures getting sewn together. By taking my stitch length down from 2.5 to 1.5, I can keep my typical 1/4” seam allowance and not worry about the raw edges fraying and creating future holes.Is using this many different fabrics in one quilt nuts? How To Connect Binding Suzy Quilts 2023-08-18 | Do you dread connecting your quilt binding? Let's do it together so you can see how easy it is! Share this with your quilty friends and save it so you have easy access for the next time you bind quilt.1. Leave at least 8" of space between the two ends.2. Fold both ends and finger press them a 1/4" apart.3. Open the left piece to the wrong side and place a pin where the creases intersect.4. With the same pin, connect the right side of the right strip where the creases intersect.5. The two strips should have right sides together. Line up the horizontal and vertical creases then pin in place.6. Sew the strips together. (This will be easier the more space you gave yourself in Step 1.)7. Trim the excess and finger press the seam open.8. Pin the binding in place and sew it down.Finished! Let me know if you found this helpful and ask your questions in the comments. Wrinkle Solution: Microfine Steam Suzy Quilts 2023-08-14 | Got wrinkles? Whether it’s a summer romper or 4 yd. of backing fabric, I’ve got a steamy solution—the @laurastar Lift. Its dry microfine steam gets rid of creases and wrinkles in a single pass and kills like ALL germs and dust mites. So you basically don’t ever need to do laundry again. Just throw your dirty clothes in a pile and let the Lift do it for you 😜 jkjkjk but seriously, this iron rocks and every time I use it I think, “I should mention this to people,” but then one of my kids spills an entire carton of orange juice on themselves and I forget. My next reel will be me attempting to use the Lift to steam clean orange juice pajamas. Hehe.Have you tried one of these irons? How To Snap Quilt Pics With Your Kiddos Suzy Quilts 2023-08-11 | Do you want to snap a photo with the adorable littles in your life? Buckle up, cause it can be a wild ride! I used to get so frustrated with my kids, my husband and basically just the whole experience, but now I remember the three Fs:1. First: Take the photo first before doing anything else. No exploring, climbing, crawling, swimming, swinging—NOTHING.2. Fast: Take it so fast those kids won’t even realize it happened. I sat my kids down on this quilt and 20 seconds later we were done. Granted, I didn’t get a single photo of both kids smiling at the camera, but that brings me to…3. Fun: If the fun stops you won’t get a good photo anyway, so once you feel the tide turning and you have to scream, “I said SMILE, dang it!” stick a fork in it.
