22.04.2022 - Scientist Rebellion Germany blocked a major road in Frankfurt - financial heart of extractive, expansive, destructive economic insanity. Fatih Birol, the International Energy A'geny executive director and one of the world's foremost energy economists, said on the 18th of May 2021: “If governments are serious about the climate crisis, there can be no new investments in oil, gas and coal, from now – from this year.”

Scientists were arrested from a range of disciplines, including Geology, Environmental Science, Medicine, Veterinary Science, Social Sciences, Biology and Chemistry. They were demanding a stop to the fossil fueled madness, in solidarity with @letztegeneration.
Banks like @DeutscheBank and @CommerzbankAG, representative for the finance sector and protected by the German state, have poured billions into new fossil fuels since the Paris Agreement - in full knowledge of what they were doing. The current Chancellor is a finance man.

Finance-led growth has led to deepening inequality, financial instability and environmental breakdown - but it has also generated spectacular wealth for its elite beneficiaries. The financialisation of our economies was driven and is sustained by class interests, shifting wealth + power away from labour towards finance capital and asset holders.
