Here's a complete episode of SoundStage, spotlighting The New Dave Brubeck Quartet - the legendary jazz composer/pianist and his sons, Darius Brubeck (keyboards), Chris Brubeck (bass and trombone) and Dan Brubeck (drums), with the Murray Louis Dance Company. It was originally broadcast on WTTW Channel 11 and simulcast in stereo on WXRT FM 93, but we are presenting here the original master tape with stereo sound.

Dave starts out with piano ballad (a tribute to his longtime collaborator Paul Desmond), as voiceover introduces show, his bandmates, and the pieces to be performed
In the first section, the "new" quartet performs "Blue Rondo A La Turk"
Filmed segment in and around the Brubeck home in Wilton, CT, where they perform "Lord, Lord" and other numbers as Chris explains how the new arrangement sounds, Dan talking about the pressure to be as good as longtime Brubeck drummer Joe Morello or Alan Dawson, and Darius speaks of whom he was named after (one of Dave's teachers, Darius Milhaud)
Back in the studio, they perform a 7/4 number (not "Unsquare Dance")
Murray Louis speaks of the coming number, "Glances," to which his troupe dances
Dave speaks of the Quartet's 1967 breakup and his writing sacred music and pieces for symphony orchestras, and speaks of his wartime experiences, leading to a section from "A Light in the Wilderness"; followed by "God's Love (Made Visible)" from "La Fiesta de la Posada"
Dave speaks of Paul (who died in 1977) and his impact on his work, followed by a piano solo
Next is another quartet piece, followed by the evergreen "Take Five"
Dave concludes with comments about his audiences, their reaction to his numbers and his own contributions for the brotherhood of man; we go back to his opening number as the end credits roll:

This aired on local Chicago TV on Thursday, March 9th 1978 during the 9pm to 10pm timeframe, and was repeated on Sunday, March 12th 1978 during the 11:15pm to 12:15am timeframe, Thursday, March 27th 1980 during the 8pm to 9pm timeframe and Sunday, March 30th 1980 during the 6pm to 7pm timeframe. (Recorded in October 1977.)
This was from a tape donated to The Museum of Classic Chicago Television by the estate of John Kennamer.

Heres a powerful one-minute PSA from the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) Special Contribution Fund, of which 34 seconds are devoted to a rapid-fire delivery of photos (1-2 frames per photo) of numerous events from 1909 (the year of the civil rights organizations founding) to the point this PSA was made, from old sharecropper homes to colored facilities, to voter registration drives, to the fight for jobs and medical access, to integration of the military, to education, to housing, to the present day (1978) - ending with a shot of a black man and his young son, and where to contact.
