A Night Out (a.k.a. Camping Out). Matthew's been frightening himself silly reading scary stories, but Sooty and Sweep declare themselves too brave for that sort of thing - so Soo challenges them to spend the night outside alone in the camper. Who will win the bet? This episode was originally broadcast on Monday, 13th December, 1993.
Any episode of The Sooty Show or Sooty and Co. (counting all of Matthew Corbett's series as one) is always good value, and this is no exception. That said, I know I'm well above the intended target age range, but I can't help feeling that the 'loophole' in this storyline wasn't quite disguised well enough (i.e., isn't that what everyone was imagining in the first place anyway?), and, for a series-closer, it sort of fizzles out without a big moment. But never mind - I still laughed a lot, and these are but minor quibbles regarding one of the most beloved programmes of my childhood. Fantastic stuff.
Just for fun, I've left in the CITV continuity at the beginning and end (and _do_ watch to the very end for an unexpected Sooty-related bonus), and there's also a nice ad break after the main event to add extra retro flavour. Oh, and you can see their legs at 14:37.
