This is a special project of mine. In the past 2 months I researched Game Boy music and hardware and tried to make a high quality release of the Gen 1 Pokémon soundtrack with way less noise and clipping problems, which are normal problems of the Game Boy. Some years ago a user named Shugo Takahashi released original DMG recordings from this soundtrack and I absolutely loved the sound of them since to me they sounded vastly supperior to emulated versions, which you almost only find online. And the official reverb soundtrack is also really not my cup of tea since it sounds not good to me. Back in 2019 they also released the Pokémon Yellow soundtrack with Lets Go but this was just the low quality emulated OST.
While I did listen to Shugo Takahashis rip over the past years and really liked it, it was also way more noisy and clippy than other releases but this is normal for the Game Boy. But I was thinking whether I could do a remastered version with way less noise and clipping while retaining the original warm Game Boy sound. After many tests both with DMG recordings but also BGB emulated versions, I came to the conclusion that the BGB sound is basically the same and sounds original, it is just a bit less noisy than original DMG recordings. Since I found no automated way to fix the clipping and transition problems, I fixed and mastered all the audio channel streams by hand. This took weeks and many many many hours since this is really a fine and tedious handywork which needs a lot of patience.
Ultimately this here is the result of my undertaking. Since the audio sources are basically analog, it is impossible to fix all the problems 100% but I would say that I heavily reduced them to a point that they are almost inaudible. You will most likely hear a big difference to other soundtrack releases. But in the end this was a learn by doing experience and also experimental. Maybe some people prefer the noisy and clippy sound of original DMG recordings but this here is my attempt at the soundtrack. The release comes with both mono and stereo mixes of the music. I heavily recommend the mono versions since they sound more genuine and also cleaner. Red, Blue and Green didnt even have stereo mode to begin with and only Yellow added it but even then its only for headphones and it basically just seperates the channels on left and right audio channel which might sound a bit odd to some. As a special bonus I also included prototype unused bonus tracks. Thanks to Zumil for making the prototype music rom and also fixing all the tracks up so that they sound correct since the original source code tracks still had some issues in them like incorrect octaves. The music is btw in 96khz 24Bit.

The soundtrack is now also available both in Mono and Stereo on YouTube so listen to whatever you prefer. Furthermore I made some minor mastering improvements (Better bass) and I also made a fancy new cover.")

I completely remade Just Cause. And with remake I mean it since I went back to the source files and did the entire arranging and VST processing from scratch. I really didnt like my original work since it was a mess. I used it as an experiment how to efficiently upscale 22khz audio and threw pretty much everything at it and looked what sticked. Sadly due to this it was badly overprocessed but I didnt feel like re-doing it back then since I was just done with it. But now it was remade from scratch and the audio quality improvement and arranging quality is quite audible I believe.")

These are all new releases. This time around I tackled PC games with Midi GM soundtracks from the mid 90s. I did these over a couple of months though I already looked before that into the topic since I first needed to figure out a process that makes it possible to render HQ audio because that Roland SCVA 1.16 VST was really picky about the DAW and most didnt work but FL Studio worked fine in combination with loopMIDI.
I usually tracked down the original MIDIs and avoided mus conversions as much as possible for instrument and BPM accuracy. This is why you might notice a few little differences in comparison to other renders since the Doom renders are based on the leaked Doom source code which still had the original Bobby Prince midi compositions rather than mus. They still had their Roland GS extensions intact for example.
After getting all the MIDI files I mostly rendered all channels one by one so that I can do more precise cleaning and mixing. The Bobby Prince and Lee Jackson compositions were most of the time left as is since they were composed on Roland and sounded right to me. Heretic and Hexen were highly reworked though and the mixing might be quite different from what you are used to since I really wasnt happy with the instrument balance and I tried to make clean balanced mixes with every detail audible and a clean soundstage. The James Paddock compositions were only slightly reworked since they were usually fine with the soundfont.
What was made completely different is Descent though. This is because there wasnt really a way to render the midis directly due to them being hmi files and some of the MIDI information and samples coming straight from the games code. Therefore I setup Dosbox and recorded the MIDI output and then did the mastering. In this case I also included the Redbook audio as bonus which I declicked and remastered too.
All renders and masters were saved as 96khz 24bit though it should be said that the majority of the SCVA samples seem to be 16khz.")

Just a quickie I made while I was working on other XQ GBA soundtracks. I always liked the Tekken OSTs and this here has some catchy exclusive tracks and weirdly enough this is the only Tekken game that never had a soundtrack release. Some tracks are also just copies from other games like Forest Law. Weirdly enough all the tracks are in mono, no idea why they composed them like that. Maybe due to GBA soundmixing limitations?")
