Rules:
- This is a low level run of zombero's hardtype mod: romhacking.net/hacks/3299
- The aim is to keep XP gain as low as possible without affecting my sanity.
- Hard mode, obviously
- No stat boosting items
- All other game mechanics are fair game!
Hardtype changes:
- HP: 16000 → 26666
- Mazionga → Maziodyne
- Dekunda → Silent Prayer (Acts as Dekaja and Dekunda rolled into one)
I intentionally used a risky strat here. But it should be noted that it is possible to completely break this battle. Once he loses 25% of his health he will always use Dekaja into Focus as long as you're at +2 in at least one stat, and then follow it up with Death Flies and a regular physical. With the right setup (phys resistance and ~600 HP on everyone) you can force an AI loop that renders him completely harmless, barring crits I suppose. Simply cast Rakukaja x2 after Dekaja, then heal and Tetraja after the Death Flies round.
Anyway, in the interest of having a quicker, hopefully more watchable battle I decided not to exploit this. This requires death immune demons with very high vit in order to tank 2 of his spells, the damage range of which is roughly 550-680. Even having pumped his vit, Demi sits near the middle of this range meaning high damage rolls on consecutive almighty spells can finish him off, but fortunately double almighty is a rare occurence as long as we keep buffs up. We also need a swift response to Silent Prayer - it is essential to immediately reapply buffs whenever he busts it out.
Besides Demi's shaky health, another problem comes when fly boy spams Silent Prayer which hogs all our actions and can drain our MP to the point that it's necessary to throw a Bead of Life. There's not really anything that can be done about this, but I at least try to keep Atavaka's MP at max whenever possible.
