"Behind some of the world's greatest hits lies a great question: does constraint breed genius? In this Podcast Edition, Drummer Steven Gilchrist (Graham Coxon, The Damned, and Boney M) and Grammy winning engineer Liam Nolan (Rihanna, Stormzy, the Black Eyed Peas) sit down with our Host Ashea to reveal the behind-the-scenes of Adele's 'Hello,' the meticulous process behind the legendary Drumopolis project with Tony Visconti, and what it really takes to engineer records that resonate globally.
In This Episode:
• Inside the Adele 'Hello' sessions:
• The mic chain that captured one of the biggest vocal performances of the decade (U47, Neve 1081, 1176)
• How Tony Visconti designed Drumopolis: capturing '70s legend with modern flexibility across 29 microphones
• The Decca tree, room mics, and why a tea towel on the snare matters (vintage tone with intention)
• Why recording vibe, comfort, and 'reading the room' is non-negotiable—and what that looks like in practice
• Analog vs. digital: the tape machine, commitment, and why limitations can raise the stakes for performance
• Managing expectations: why clients listening on car stereos ask for mixes that don't exist, and how to set boundaries
• Democratizing music production: why tools like Drumopolis matter beyond the studio
• Working with Rihanna, Stormzy, the Black Eyed Peas & will.i.am: lessons from sessions with global superstars

![Source-Connect 4 Tested: Remote Atmos With No Compromise?
Source-Connect 4 is the first remote collaboration tool certified for Dolby Atmos with full metadata to the Renderer. We tested whether the no-compromise claim survives a real session.
Paul Maunder joined a live Source-Connect 4 session running between two certified Dolby Atmos facilities, one in California and one in Amsterdam, to see what remote Atmos collaboration actually delivers in practice. The promise is significant. Source-Connect 4 streams up to 128 channels of beds and objects along with the Atmos metadata, rather than sending a folded-down re-render, so the destination room is no longer limited by the source setup. In theory a mixer in headphones can deliver to a full cinema rig with nothing lost in translation.
This video walks through how that holds up. We cover the certification, what the metadata connection to the Dolby Atmos Renderer means for review and approval, how the transatlantic session behaved, where the workflow earns its place in post and immersive music, and the practical questions any facility will ask before relying on it for client sessions.
If you handle remote Atmos mixing, remote review or remote approval, this is the test you want before committing.

![Waves V17 Mix Unlock In Action
Waves V17 review, should you upgrade for the new preset browser, StudioVerse Mix Unlock, and the latest live and studio workflow changes?
In this video, we take a practical look at Waves V17 StudioVerse Mix Unlock.
V17 brings a redesigned preset management system across the Waves plugin range, with improved browsing, search, favourites, and organisation for faster access to the sounds and starting points you use most.
Also new are the refreshed MondoMod interface and the linked I/O controls in CLA MixDown. For live sound users, V17 adds real-time analyser support for Renaissance EQ and eMo Q4 inside eMotion LV1 and SuperRack, plus updates to Waves PSE, F6, and Q10 that are aimed at faster control in live environments.
The biggest new feature for many users is StudioVerse Mix Unlock. This premium StudioVerse feature separates finished stereo audio into vocals, drums, bass, and instruments in real time inside the DAW, allowing those elements to be adjusted, processed, or transformed using StudioVerse preset chains and Waves plugins.
