In this video I show you how you can make a beautiful floral fabric collage of flowers in a vase. It is a fabric collage and slow stitching method that you can adapt to all different fabrics and compositions.
I’m creating this vase for Roxy’s Journal of Stitchery volume 7 Still Life project where the prompt is a ginger jar vase of flowers in slow stitching style. #Roxysjournalofstitchery
In this video I show you how to audition different fabrics for your composition and what I consider. Then I show how I fussy cut out my pieces and arrange them into a balanced fabric collage.#slowstitching
The vase is inspired by the lovely Emily from @CollageQuilter who creates amazing pieces and shares her approach here on YouTube and through her book.
The vase is my own design and I really enjoyed playing with how to create light and shadow with scraps of fabric. I love that the vase also features flowers and birds - two of my favourite motifs.
In my previous video I showed how you can use scraps of fabric, doilies, lace and other scraps to make a collaged fabric from which you can then cut out shapes:
