Just days after Konami announced the latest entry in the Castlevania franchise, we now have to mourn the loss of one of the franchise's most important contributors. Shutaro Iida, 52 years old, passed away on February 10th from Pancreatic Cancer. I had the privilege of interviewing him a few years ago, and I wanted to share my deepest condolences, prayers and sympathies to his friends and family, his co-workers at both Konami and Artplay and of course, to the fans. I was so grateful for the opportunity to share his interview. He was one of the few people in the development staff who was eager to share as much information as he could about both Castlevania and Bloodstained. His passion for both IPs on a development level, is well noted here. I've included some questions he answered for me after our discussion over a year later that, to this day, have not been confirmed elsewhere. It just goes to show how dedicated he was to his craft.
Rest in Peace, Iida-san. We will miss you. We will play Bloodstained's prequel in your honor and will cherish your legacy.
In this video, I made mention of doing a charity stream in his honor, donating all proceeds to Pancreatic Cancer. I then found out that Artplay has kindly asked us not to provide any flowers or donations in his name. I am also taking this to heart and have made the decision to not do the stream, but please know I had full intention to do so. I respect the wishes of his family and co-workers.
Feel free to leave any words or thoughts in regards to his legacy down below.
