The broken Glass and embers
the bloodstains on the wall
I heard my mama crying
the horror of it all

Old Daryll had been drinking
He came home from the bar
and Mama had been thinking
as she felt upon her scar
If he tried to lay a finger
or cause her baby harm…then she’d do it
