Beth Barrington shares her passion for Project Enlist after the death of her son, Capt. Matt Brewer. Brewer died by suicide in February 2021 after suffering from PTSD and suspected CTE symptoms like issues with memory, paranoia, and depression. Brewer was a champion boxer and a starting linebacker at the United States Naval Academy. He was a proud 2-0 with the Midshipmen in their rivalry matchup against Army. He went on to serve as a captain in the United States Marine Corps.
Capt. Brewer's family was not able to donate his brain but hope other families learn about Project Enlist and how vital brain bank research is to developing effective diagnoses and treatments for TBI, CTE, and PTSD during life.
