Somewhere in the Mojave Desert, $20,000 worth of silver coins are still hidden. Today I'm following the clues from old manuscripts to search for this lost Mormon treasure.
In March 1868, Mormons traveling to San Bernardino were pursued by the U.S. Cavalry and hid their gold and silver along the Spanish Trail. Another story tells of wagon loads of silver coins ambushed by Paiute Indians near the Policy Mine. Only one survivor knew where they were buried behind a large rock.
In this treasure hunting adventure, Nevada Jack and I explore remote desert caves following petroglyphs and landmarks mentioned in historical records. We squeeze through tight sandstone fissures, examine ancient rock carvings, and search formations where treasures could have been hidden for over 150 years.
