In the latest Scream 5 news, David Arquette is officially confirmed to be returning for Scream 5 as Sheriff Dewey Riley. Along with this announcement, we also have the official reveal of the writers for the next Scream movie.

Spyglass Media Group has finally given us a Scream 5 update. After months of rumors, and Neve Campbell's recent interview, we now have official confirmation that David Arquette will be in Scream 5. Touted as a Scream reboot, Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Scream 5, Ready or Not) will be working with previous collaborators James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, who will take on the role of Scream 5 writers. Kevin Williamson remains involved as an executive producer.
As the script has already been written, we can expect to see the reveal of more Scream 5 cast and characters in the coming weeks, specifically Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox and more casting to follow. The Scream 5 filming date will begin as soon as the restrictions from the pandemic have been lifted, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Incidentally, Wilmington was also the shooting location of Halloween Kills, and the yet to be filmed Halloween Ends, which might possibly film at the same time.
The Scream 5 plot is still being kept well under wraps, but we now know it will involve the legacy characters, and will likely be ready for a 2021 release date, which if released in December, will fall on the 25th anniversary of Wes Craven's Scream franchise.
