On July 1, 2004, NASA's **Cassini** spacecraft successfully entered orbit around Saturn, becoming the first spacecraft to orbit the ringed planet.
During its 13-year mission, Cassini transformed our understanding of Saturn, its magnificent rings, and its mysterious moons. The spacecraft discovered towering ice geysers erupting from Enceladus, explored Titan's methane lakes, and captured some of the most breathtaking images ever taken of the solar system.
Cassini remains one of the greatest planetary exploration missions in history and forever changed what we know about the outer planets.
