The various voices of Samus Aran in the Metroid series. This video follows our previous voice comparison that accompanied a feature from December 2023, In Search of Samus, an investigation that identified most of Samus's actresses in games and commercials.

Note about Minako Hamano: in the Japanese Super Metroid guide, a developer interview took place with the game's production team. Hamano-san, the composer, said that she recorded a death scream for Samus, but claimed it was unused. In 2021, a female moan was uncovered through datamining, which likely corresponds with Hamano-san's recording. It was incorporated into the Game Over flourish, Samus Aran's Final Cry. The first sound you hear is the isolated moan as discovered. The second has been edited to improve its pitch and speed, and represent how it likely would have sounded in the game. Both versions of the sound were originally uploaded to The Cutting Room Floor by ValjeanLafitte.
