Sailing the Welsh Coast on 120-year-old West Country trading ketch, Bessie Ellen. On board for Leg 1 of her Round Britain Tour are 8 guests, 4 crew, 2 filmmakers (that's us!), skipper Nikki Alford, and salty sea dog Bracken!
2024 marks the 120th anniversary of Bessie Ellen, and to celebrate, her owner and skipper, Nikki Alford, is embarking on a Round Britain Tour and taking part in the maritime festivals at Brest and Douarnenez. Built in Plymouth in 1904, Bessie Ellen spent much of her working life delivering cargo around the West Country and Denmark, but has operated as a charter boat for the last twenty years.
We (Kim and Del Hogg) joined Bessie Ellen for 8 months during this special year to document life aboard and create this 'Year in the Life of Bessie Ellen' series.
